Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

sucks you in
Revisado: 11-09-24
So the description is completely off. This is about a mimic and it's journey into leveling up, there's some sexual language but nothing too raunchy. it's quite entertaining and I enjoyed the different approach of following the monster instead of the adventurer. It's worth a listen it starts a little slow but it is still pretty engaging. I felt myself sucked into the story.

Historia
As one of the few witches in Britain, Mika Moon knows she has to hide her magic, keep her head down, and stay away from other witches so their powers don’t mingle and draw attention. And as an orphan who lost her parents at a young age and was raised by strangers, she’s used to being alone and she follows the rules...with one exception: an online account, where she posts videos "pretending" to be a witch. She thinks no one will take it seriously.

Historia
I’m Everly Abbott, and I work for one of the most dangerous vampires in the world. He’s known as Alexius, the Hunter and he’s also one of the oldest. We’ve been invited to a gathering of ancients like him, and we can’t pass on this opportunity. We’re hoping to gather information, anything that might draw us closer to the group behind Jacob’s murder, the events in Alaska, and the threatening email I received. However, we’re not the only ones attending with our own agenda.

excellent continuation of the series
Revisado: 10-14-23
I waited so patiently for the audiobook to release for this book. I find I enjoy listening to this particular series more than I like to read it because the suspense is a bit more than I have the self control for with a book and I find myself skipping ahead when I read it but with the audiobook I can sit with it and let it untold around me. I really enjoy this build up and world building. The first book was hard to get into at first but the 2nd and 3rd make up for it. It's like playing the long game. The series is a slower paced overarching story, but with such excellent writing its addictive. I am also particularly fond of both MCs being introverted, it adds to the personalities being developed.

I earned my reputation among magicians for a reason: one wrong move and you're dead. Killer, they called me, and killing is what I'm best at. Except her. The one I was supposed to take, the one I should have killed–I didn't. The cult that once controlled me wants her, and I'm not about to lose my new toy to them.

Almost Didn't Finish
Revisado: 10-02-23
Okay, so this is a hard one. The kink and sex was great and excellently written. It's sadomasochism, blood play, and some DD/LG dynamics if I'm going to summarize it. The story lacked in the plot. It's instalove with very little character growth throughout the book which made it hard to understand the characters decisions since the emotional and relational history was missing. So they could be expressing love and trust but they have no reason for it, which takes away from the relationship. This also led to some inconsistencies with the character development. To engage in the type of kink they do requires a lot of trust but then the FMC will question whether to trust the MMC and continuously make decisions that betray him. She literally lacks common sense, the author tries to play up as this "lack of self preservation" idea and even tries to tie it together with the ending rebelations but it doesn't quite fit. The FMC is helpless one moment and defiant and foolhardy the next. She is not a strong FMC but the MMC will comment on her bravery when it's not bravery, it's stupidity because she lacks the sense to make an informed decision with her skill set. She's a paranormal investigator but when faced with the paranormal she takes forever to believe it. These types of inconsistencies are scattered throughout the whole book which is why I almost didn't finish it. I AM going to read the next one because this book hints that the other 2 FMCs for the next 2 books have a different type of personality than this FMC. I'm hopeful their stories will be better developed and less annoying. So, if you hate weak FMCs I would pass on this book. If that type of personality doesn't bother you then give it a read.

I knew fixing up my life with a fresh start on the hobby ranch I inherited in Hell’s Bells, Wyoming, would come with challenges. Things like snow. Wildlife. Local gossip about why my daughter and I are here. But the biggest challenge? My surly new tenant. He’s like a bear. Fascinating from a distance, but don’t get too close, or he’ll bite. His personality should be a good thing. I have no need of a new man in my life. But he’s not only my tenant; he’s also my daughter’s math teacher and soccer coach.

solid conclusion
Revisado: 08-02-23
This was a solid conclusion to the series. I'm so sad it's over. The author did a good job not leaving loose ends and hinted at maybe some side stories in the future from other characters and our main group so that helped. The ending was a bit sad but not unsatisfying. I found myself surprised and not being able to predict a good portion of the development which I always appreciate. it's a great read and listen.

After eight years on the stage with The Company of Fiends, the glow of the spotlight is starting to wear thin for Hazel Nix. The theater is perfect for a girl like her—one with a secret she keeps even from her more monstrous peers—but playing pretend is only exciting for so long. After so many lovers, on stage and otherwise, Hazel has yet to make a lasting connection with anyone and considers taking her last bow at the company.

I absolutely love this series so far. I was so attached to the MCs in book one I wasn't sure how I'd like this one but it exceeded my expectations and was a great build up of the overarching storyline. You'll absolutely love Hazel and her men, don't even question it. It's worth the listen!

excellent continuation!
Revisado: 07-26-23
Okay, so this is definitely a cliffhanger, which I do absolutely hate. However, it's not one of those cliffhangers that ends as if it's in the middle of a scene. So it is tolerable. the character development and addition of different characters was great. It's more spread into different characters experience and point of view so it's not completely centered on Bryce and Hunt. I liked that adjustment, it seemed to add more to the over arching theme of the story, allowing to get a bigger picture of what's going on. Definitely some twists and turns and by then end you have to really think backwards to figure out how we got there bit it's a similar style to the first book. Definitely worth the read and an excellent sequel!
