Historia
Ariana loves her life as a schoolteacher in a little frontier town. But one evening after classes are done and she prepares to hurry home, her life changes in an instant when a band of rough outlaws abduct her and take her far away from all she has ever known. Trapped in a small shack, Ariana prays and waits, her emotions swinging between terror and boredom as days stretch into weeks. Still, the outlaws refuse to tell her why they've taken her or what they plan to do. Then the boss' son appears in the doorway of her cabin.

Favorite story, missing content!
Revisado: 10-25-24
This is my favorite Jeanette Oke story, and I was excited to listen, but there is a lot of content missing. Some of the missing content is important for building conflict and some of the best dialogue. Very disappointed.
The narrator does a pretty good job, except she gets breathy and whispery when citing the lines of the main character.
The volume is very quiet.

Historia
Anna is eager to begin a new chapter in her life as a Lancaster County tour guide in the picturesque area where her Plain grandmother once stayed. Anna wishes she could talk with her grandmother about those long-ago days, but the elderly woman suffers from Alzheimer's, and beyond a vague hint about an old stone wall, much about that time is a mystery. Thankfully, Martin Nolt, a handsome Mennonite, takes the young Beachy Amish woman under his wing for her training, familiarizing her with local highlights, including Peaceful Meadows Horse Retreat, for children with special needs.

Slow story, narrator too breathy.
Revisado: 02-13-22
I can’t stand the breathy style of this narrator. Maybe the story wouldn’t seem so slow if it was read by someone in a regular voice.
