Warlord Tane of Atlan is a warrior, not a prince. So why is he wearing these ridiculous white pants and gold-trimmed jacket? And gods help him, why are there hundreds of females in glittering gowns, circling like vultures, expecting him to dance? The human producers of the Bachelor Beast television show thought this would be a good idea; dress up an unmated Warlord like a fairytale prince, invite hundreds of eligible human women to a “Cinderella Ball,” turn on their cameras, and record everything. And then he sees her. His mate. The only female who can tame his beast.

I murder the bad guys on my downtime. You could say it’s one of my favorite hobbies. If someone wanted to get rid of me, I have this entire history of arson and murder they could have used. So, who framed me for embezzling and why? And why was I sent to Scorchwood as a first-time offender? It’s in Hell because that’s where they send the truly evil to rot.

I feel like I’ve been given a place in life–expectations of me–that it’s useless fighting. So I don’t bother. I’m the guy they all think I am; fighting, smoking, drinking. Because what else is Roman Lombardi but a troubled teen? No one’s convinced I’ve got anything going for me. I take what–and who–I want when I want it, and never think about anything more than a couple of hours in the future.
