What disappointed you about On Her Majesty's Frightfully Secret Service?
I will be returning this book. The accents are all wrong and I cannot listen to the story with this narrator. Also...........never in the history of Ireland has anyone ever said 'Top o' the Mornin' to you' so I don't think the story can be much better than the narration.

Story good, narrator not so

Good factual information. Narrator was most irritating with a very fake British accent, really annoying. There are recordings of most Antarctic explorers from that era and accents can be easily checked.

Flavia has disappointed.

I'm not sure if it is the different setting but this story just didn't permit Flavia the scope she usually has. Also, of all the characters she met, none became fully developed. They were without charm or interest.

Great story

The character Bella is a nonentity, she has no character at all except that she is silly and stupid, very annoying.
The main narrator for this story is excellent but the narrator for Jacob could well be left out in this book - his voice is only heard briefly which is a good thing.
Despite the flaws, this story is rivetting.

Northern Irish humour?

This book is not a good example of Northern Irish humour or of anything else. It goes into incredibly detailed descriptions of medical procedures - totally unnecessary unless the author thinks his readers want to learn medical procedures from a novel. Repetitive, uninteresting - I removed it from my IPod after listening to unrealistic characters bore me for 3 hours - I couldn't take any more and there were still 10 hours to go!!
