Historia
Gloria Steinem - writer, activist, organizer, and one of the most inspiring leaders in the world - now tells a story she has never told before, a candid account of how her early years led her to live an on-the-road kind of life, traveling, listening to people, learning, and creating change. She reveals the story of her own growth in tandem with the growth of an ongoing movement for equality. This is the story at the heart of My Life on the Road.

Glad I Found This
Revisado: 11-30-15
Loved the accounts, especially about the Native cultures, with which I am only slightly familiar. Ms. Steinem's journey through her life so far was well written, engaging and inspiring. Highly recommended.

Historia
Two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize David McCullough tells the dramatic story behind the story about the courageous brothers who taught the world how to fly: Wilbur and Orville Wright.
On December 17, 1903, at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, Wilbur and Orville Wright's Wright Flyer became the first powered, heavier-than-air machine to achieve controlled, sustained flight with a pilot aboard. The Age of Flight had begun. How did they do it? And why?

Met my expectations. Loved the early story about the mouse problem and how it was handled. I will never go back to Africa, but it brought back good memories.

Historia
From the Gilded Age until 1914, more than 100 American heiresses invaded Britannia and swapped dollars for titles - just like Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, the first of the Downton Abbey characters Julian Fellowes was inspired to create after reading To Marry An English Lord. Filled with vivid personalities, gossipy anecdotes, grand houses, and a wealth of period details-plus quotes and the finer points of Victorian and Edwardian etiquette - To Marry An English Lord is social history at its liveliest and most accessible.

Great Listen for its Historical Insights
Revisado: 01-30-15
I found this book wonderfully entertaining. While we know quite a bit about the professional history and contribution to American life of many of the families named, I didn't know so much about their social interactions with its considerations, limits, and encouragements.
I think, also, the book adds color and better understanding of the Downton Abbey phenomenon, as we watch characters develop season after season.
The snooty tone of the reader was also perfect for a work of this nature, and lent a certain sense of comedy for me.
Recommended by a friend, and I am so glad she encouraged me.

Pleasant, but not entertaining enough to finish
Revisado: 11-22-12
What did you like best about Angels at the Table? What did you like least?
Fond of the author as a public figure and businessperson, but this story didn't hold my interest. Also, I felt like the performer was reading to a kindergarten class, so the repetitive bickering of the story became very slow and tiresome. I think I'll postpone finishing it for another day.
If you’ve listened to books by Debbie Macomber before, how does this one compare?
I have listened to one other book section which was far more engaging.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Kimberly Farr?
Probably once more, to see if the experience improved. Can't tell if it was the reader or story that put me off.

Historia
In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Three years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel is tending the grave of her newly lost infant when she hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up on shore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Great story
Revisado: 11-22-12
If you could sum up The Light Between Oceans in three words, what would they be?
Engaging, thought-provoking.
What does Noah Taylor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Good performance, although difficult to hear the changes in volume to emphasize the drama. Still, a good reader, appropriate to the story.
