Historia
On the evening of her twenty-second wedding anniversary, Katherine Price can't wait to celebrate. But instead of receiving an anniversary card from her husband, she finds a note asking for a divorce. Fifty-five and suddenly alone, Katherine begins the daunting task of starting over. She has her friends, her aging mother, and her career to occupy her, but the future seems to hold little promise - until, after a winter of heartbreak, Katherine is persuaded to try a home exchange holiday in the South of France.

Predictable
Revisado: 03-17-25
The book is predictable and twee. The first six chapters or so were okay and I had hoped they would develop the main characters mother's story but instead the book rambles on aimlessly. The narrator made the best friend sound like a gangster that smokes like a chimney and has an IQ the same number as their shoe size. I tried to finish it. I really did but there's still another 2 hours and 54 minutes left and I can't do it.

Shari Low never fails. I laugh out loud and cry as well during every single book. I'm so glad she came across my suggested authors. I'm also happy she's so prolific a writer because there are so many more books of her to enjoy! 12/10 recommend!

Historia
An achingly funny story from the author of the best-selling You Had Me at Hello. When Edie is caught in a compromising position at her colleagues' wedding, all the blame falls on her - turns out that personal popularity in the office is not that different from your school days. Shamed online and ostracised by everyone she knows, Edie's forced to take an extended sabbatical - ghostwriting an autobiography for hot new acting talent, Elliot Owen. Easy, right? Wrong.

Funny, sweet and engaging
Revisado: 06-11-24
I loved this book. It's believable, funny and well tild. It has been a bit since I had a book make me laugh out loud and this made me cry with laughter. It also made me cry, which is a true hallmark of getting your money's worth. as my mom would say. Ms. McFarlane is a new author to me and I bought one book after another with a surplus of Audible credits after listening to this one. I cannot wait to enjoy the rest.

Milly Johnson Never Disappoints.
Revisado: 01-25-23
Love all of Milly Johnsons books. I re-read them, re-listen to them, and enjoy all of them so, so much. As well, she always has the same narrator, Colleen Pendergast, perform the narration, and she's wonderful. It is like hearing an old friend speak. I am always so happy when I find another of Milly's books that has made it to the American side of Audible. Her stories cover touchy and tough subjects and make me laugh and cry. Well done Ms. Johnson, again!

When her reserved room at a bed-and-breakfast is flooded, she takes up the offer of camping out in Willoughby Close, the converted stables of the nearby manor house...and is taken under the wing of sexy local carpenter Colin Heath. What starts out as merely helping a neighbor in need turns into far more as Colin and Anna share a surprisingly intense and emotional connection, weaving their own Christmas magic as they spend the holiday together.

Loved this book. I've read countless books about the Holocaust from many different people who experienced it but I heard descriptions of events I have never heard before. Truly a tragedy but this book is so uplifting. There are indeed, angels among us.

Great listen
Revisado: 05-03-22
The narrator is wonderful and has great material to work with. I had to buy the heroine's autobiography (yes, she's a real person) right after listening to this book. I am fascinated by all she accomplished and it was immensely satisfying to listen to her story in story form. Highly recommend.

Excellent book! I laughed and cried and enjoyed every minute of it. Katie is real and always herself. It felt like am extended Katie's Arms episode (see her Instagram) and it was wonderful..Love hearing her laugh at her own antics as she narrates the book. It's a great reminder that while the crazies remain in charge, we're not alone in our fight against them.

This richly woven tale of passion, love, longing, witchcraft and magic promises to be everything her readers love and more.
