Made reading books better

My kid and I loved listening to this. Hearing Cowell's positive passion was infectious. Learning about her childhood also added a other level of enjoyment (especially since my daughter is an avid bird watcher). I especially enjoyed how the interviewer's questions and how the author delved into different artistic medium. I worried my kid would be upset that the books are different from the movie (she wasn't). It was a relief to hear the author wasn't disappointed and expressed so well the need for elements to change according to the craft. I know we will both rewatch, relisten, and reread but with new perspectives. It will feel like experiencing the pieces in a slightly new way!

Hooked the parent

My 8 y.o. was terrified of chapter books (she struggled with reading for a while). Yet she proclaimed How To Train Your Dragon as her favorite book--never having read it--certain it would become her favorite. For her birthday, family bought her the audiobook and hardback series. She tore through, reading along, multiple times. Within three weeks she started reading chapter books on her own.
But even more, I got hooked! I didn't expect to. and recommend the books to adult friends needing an escape at night. David Tennant's narration opened up my imagination and I have so much fun reading these now. My kids are surprised by how many accents I can throw around. They even use as a bookmark, a photo of me eating a raw limpet on the beach of an Irish island. They speak dragonese--which I should learn. It really helps to hear it.
We just love this audiobook!
