The book feels like a fable or fairytale. The course of many paths feels often predictable and ritualized, yet instead of feeling trite or constraining, this delivers a sense of rightness and wholeness.

Fantastic narration

Great, fun story with surprisingly excellent narration. At first I thought the narrator was sounding too repetitive in her intonation, but once the multiple characters entered the story, she really started to show wonderful variety and I was really engaged. I had a great time listening to this, and will totally recommend to friends.

There are stories in stories in stories waiting here, each carefully placed like stones in a house wall or like piled wood in a fire as it slowly cracks into a gorgeous glowing cathedral at the heart of the fire. But add life, and connect these stones or fire to words and imagery of excitement and joy, of foolish certainty and harmful seeking, and that's a poor semblance of the rich yet simple nature of this story.
And the narrator did a great kid!
