Read the book instead, if there is one

I was barely able to make it through listening to this one. Rykal, pronounced Rye- call in the first of the series makes sense looking at the name. But in this one she pronounced it Rickle (rhymes with pickle). It sounded so absurd! To make is worse when his fellow warriors shortened it, she said it as Rih, you can't believe how horrible it was to listen to that!! If you can read this instead of listen, I would strongly advise it otherwise you'll want to scream a good part of the time.

I couldn't even make it past the 3rd chapter of the first book. They obviously used some artificial editing, synthesizer or something. The narrator rarely sounded human. I have read a few of these books & enjoyed them but the Audible version is horrific.

Great story, as always. Narration was meh!

Narrator was good doing the female parts. Her "Male " voices were pretty bad & sometimes down right awful. The worst part was her pronunciation of some of the character's names. Air ee el ee? Ma rock? Really? Is that how Ms. Briggs wanted it to sound? Yet when Ariana "true named" Samuel she pronounced Marrok the way I've always thought was supposed to be. So she wasn't consistent.
But I love Mercy & the gang. Ms. Briggs always makes her characters feel real because they are flawed like the rest of us.
