Historia
Joel Schwartzberg examines a variety of tiny obsessions and observations about modern life through the comic perspective of a remarried dad and pop culture junkie. Thirty-six hysterical, heroic, and haunting short pieces sum up a half-lifetime's worth of experiences that range from relatable and reassuring to funny and fervent, and one extolling a certain 70's pop icon that really depends on how you feel about the guy.

A Welcome Respite
Revisado: 01-07-25
This thoughtful collection of brief essays on life is full of humor and heart. I love this audio version as it’s read by the author himself, feeling like these are tales he’s telling while we’re sharing a pint. A book that doesn’t require long spans of attention, you can pick it up and read a chapter or 3 on a train commute, lunch break, or when you need a respite from the stark awareness of being in your handbasket.

Historia
At her famous Kite's Nest Farm in Worcestershire, England, the cows (as well as sheep, hens, and pigs) all roam free. They make their own choices about rearing, grazing, and housing. Left to be themselves, the cows exhibit temperaments and interests as diverse as our own. "Fat Hat" prefers men to women; "Chippy Minton" refuses to sleep with muddy legs and always reports to the barn for grooming before bed; "Jake" has a thing for sniffing the carbon monoxide fumes of the Land Rover exhaust pipe; and "Gemima" greets all humans with an angry shake of the head and is fiercely independent.

Delightful stories about the quirky personalities antics and adventures of these cows. I work with horses who are quite similar. Gonna have to have a salad for dinner.

A very entertaining memoir, some bits made me laugh loud enough to startle my dog. I hate he’s gone, but love all the work he left for us

An Adventure Experience Like No Other
Revisado: 06-01-24
What an amazing adventure! And how dreadfully horrible there are heartless people actively and unconscionably destroying such a treasure as the unadulterated Amazon forest and all its inhabitants. Paul’s story of his first years in the Amazon is gripping, curious, leads to questions and investigation and research-the things that can help save it and all of us. Read and share!

Happy Trees
Revisado: 04-04-23
Was disappointed when it ended, wanted to hear more. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The narrator was delightful and the writing on what could have been a droll subject was light and entertaining, as if Douglas Adams wrote more about trees. I’ve been staring at my trees with more compassion & consideration, wondering if they’re happy, is this one looking out for that one, how old are they, and wishing them well.
