Great stories, great narration.

Started out not liking it. About halfway through book one I was hooked. The follow-ups didn't waver but stayed consistent in overall story quality. I would absolutely recommend these books. I wouldn't however recommend buying antique mirrors. lol

The camaraderie and friendly sarcasm between the two main characters make the story. Unfortunately, both were lost in book 3.

Can't do it
Revisado: 07-13-22
The Chronicles of Corin an Ful are amazing but no matter how hard I try I can't stay engaged with this story. I've tried forcing myself to keep going but I can't do it. I think it's just the wrong narrator for this story. The narrator isn't bad, he's just probably not the best for this.

Even the imperial legions, long inured to the bloodshed, yearn for some respite. Yet Empress Laseen's rule remains absolute, enforced by her dread Claw assassins.

Intentionally unpleasant
Revisado: 06-23-22
Like trying to learn calculus in a geometry class as your physics teacher tries to bully you into doing the macarana. Although I believe this is intentional. It's annoying yet can be deciphered if you put in the work. The problem with that is I feel most listeners are looking for escapism, not another job. It's like ordering a large sweet tea and discovering they gave you unsweet tea but you're already several miles down the road.

A good story that often lacked much needed depth
Revisado: 06-12-22
There were several times where I thought to myself that the characters lacked basic logic during crucial moments. For example, there is a massive underground tunnel that extends at least 25-30 miles that's connected to the city that's under demon attack. At no time did any character think to usher the citizens into that tunnel for safety. They instead went with the tired old siege angle against a superior army that had giants and projectiles. So you ended up with dead civilians everywhere. Another example is in a ravine where demons are systematically murdering people. At any previous point in the time-line it would've been acceptable. However, this occurs two chapters after a mage figured out and successfully tested a spell that immediately kills demons. Not once did that mage even think to deploy it in the ravine. Instead of the logical answer, a different mage sacrificed her life with a different spell that merely bought the group a bit of time to escape. With that said, it is a good overall story.

Great overall story
Revisado: 05-08-22
If I had to critique, I'd say the scene transitioning needs work. It's a series you have to remain laser focused on or you'll miss major events or suddenly find yourself in a different scene, unsure how you got there. I ended up re-listening to several chapters to figure out how it went from here from there. With that said, the overall story is original and interesting. The character development is great. I'd love for Cashel and Ilna to have their own spin-off.

Historia
My name is Kvothe. You may have heard of me. So begins a tale told from his own point of view - a story unequaled in fantasy literature. Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Less would've been more
Revisado: 02-22-22
Could afford to cut a good 40 to 50 unnecessary chapters. Especially most of the time spent learning the Ketan with the Lethani. Yes, we get it. The Lethani are so much better than us dumb barbarians. It's every single self deprecating culture comparison story you've ever read or watched, constant groveling included. Side note: The Lethani not knowing or understanding the male role in reproduction just isn't believable. Also, a lot of time spent with Felurian could've been cut. Other than that the main storyline remains strong and original.
