These audiobooks are a treasure, I cannot get enough of his character voices and the emotion behind them. He captures the story so well.

This novel was recommended to me by my great uncle after I took an interest in Stephen King’s The Stand. It took me a few chapters to get into the story but once I felt it, I was hooked. I especially love the storyline of Sister and her sheer strength of body and mind. This story had me gasping with shock, crying with sadness as well as joy, and marveling in the accurate/ terrifying representation of human nature in the collapse of society as we know it. I will definitely be listening to this book again in the future.

After reading the physical book, I knew I had to listen to the audio version. The experience of hearing Edward’s thoughts spoken aloud triggered so many emotions in me as I listened to his anguish and love for Bella. It brought back the way I felt reading and watching Twilight for the first time so long ago. Between Stephanie Meyer’s writing skill and Jake Abel’s marvelous voices for the characters, I could see every scene in my head. Many times I swear I could even hear the telltale Twilight piano music in my head during some of the more tender scenes. In short, I loved this.

I do not have a word available in English to describe the way I feel after listening to this book. Having already read it twice in physical form did not take away from my third experience with this story. The love that my Aunt Jackie and Uncle Bill have is something that is almost fairy tale like. It seems like something that would be unreal for most. But having been exposed to that love for my entire life, I can speak to its realness. The way they feel for each other can be felt almost like an aura, with the warmth of it spreading out in a large bubble around them. This fact is also displayed again and again in the book that Jackie does such a wonderful job narrating. I found myself laughing, crying, and reflecting through each part of the story. One sentence that will stay with me forever is; “Knowing where your scars come from doesn’t make them go away”. This memoir has given me tools that I will be able to use for the rest of my life. One is remembering that the past will always affect the future. Another is that it is important to understand why it is we want something, and what that thing is meant to do for us. Most importantly I was reminded for why my love burns so strongly for these two people. And I am glad that the rest of the world has the opportunity to experience their love through thus book.

I recommend this book to literally every person that is able to read or listen to the audio story. Every. Single. Person. As soon as I started listening, I could not stop. There were a great many times that I gasped aloud, shook my head with disdain, and felt the weight of my jaw dropping to the floor. The “nasty” manner in which Donald Trump was molded into the disgrace he is today, has always been, is appalling. Even more frightening as Mary Trump points out, are the people of this country that have allowed him to continue with this behavior while sitting in one of the most powerful seats in the world.
