Good story! Great performance
Revisado: 11-14-20
Very enjoyable submarine story. Good character development, with just enough tech military descriptions to keep it interesting. They should make this into a movie. Guidall’s performance makes the book come alive.

Historia
An oil tanker mysteriously explodes in the Persian Gulf. Then a second...and a third. To the president's national security adviser, Admiral Arnold Morgan, it is more than a tragic coincidence - it is a brazen act of aggression that must not stand. In partnership with Iran, the Chinese navy has mined the Strait of Hormuz, intending to hold the world's oil supply hostage. Now 80 percent of America's active sea power is being mobilized - including USS Shark, an aging nuclear submarine on its final tour of duty.

Failed ending - good listen but be warned
Revisado: 09-21-20
Terrible ending - he must have all of 5 min writing it as after a 15 hour book he wrapped it up in 13 min? Seriously? He has a good grasp of navy politics and global overview. It’s worth reading just to hear Arnold Morgan acted by George G! Way too much jargon with military hardware but good character development- as with other books. Recommended but with conditions.

Great book and fantastic Character narrations!
Revisado: 11-28-19
Silva takes his time laying the foundation of this story and in the last third you are glad he did. His plot and sub plots make this a ‘perfect for Netflix’ type of binge series. The character development and interchange is excellent. His command of detail in describing the streets and locations makes you feel you are getting a guided tour. All this wouldn’t be a fraction of the experience if it wasn’t for George Guidall’s’ performance. His ability to make many accents and characters come to life makes it better than a movie. Best audio book actor there is. If you like this, you should check the Mitch Rapp series he does and the Dark Tower series he does. Brilliant.

Historia
The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

Revisado: 06-25-19
Flynn delivers with The Last Man. Very good plot, sub plot, and sub sub plot. Very engaging with Rap actually going through personal issues yet at the same time again being the “the guy we wish we had” in handling terrorists in the modern age. Wish this was a movie series. Enjoy!

Not one of his best in the series but George G is awesome
Revisado: 06-05-19
I understand the whole theme is anti-terrorism but Mr Flynn normally has a great plot that rivets but this one doesn’t. Don’t get me wrong it’s good just not one of his better books. The shining light is George Guidall’s amazing narration and performance. Again, way better than any other performer on Mitch Rap books.

Historia
For months, Mitch Rapp has been steadily working his way through a list of men, bullet by bullet. With each kill, the tangled network of monsters responsible for the slaughter of 270 civilians becomes increasingly clear. He is given his next target: a plump Libyan diplomat who is prone to drink and is currently in Paris without a single bodyguard. Rapp finds him completely unprotected and asleep in his bed. With confidence in his well-honed skills and conviction of the man’s guilt, he easily sends a bullet into the man’s skull. But in the split second it takes the bullet to leave the silenced pistol, everything changes.

Good book but not as good as others in series
Revisado: 02-26-19
I think the book is better than I give it credit but honestly they should have had George Guidall narrate it. Nick Sullivan was just OK and the book deserved better. It didn’t come alive and sounded read from a script when it should be a performance. I got through it but it felt LONG.

George Guidall could read the phone book and make it sound interesting. What a fantastic narrater. Combine that with a great story and writing that makes you thankful that Vince Flynn has such craft. This is a great book. Mitch Rap is in rare form again and continues to save the world but not the bad guys. Highly recommended!

Historia
Richard K. Morgan has received widespread praise for his astounding 25th-century novels featuring Takeshi Kovacs, and has established a growing legion of fans. Mixing classic noir sensibilities with a searing futuristic vision of an age when death is nearly meaningless, Morgan returns to his saga of betrayal, mystery, and revenge, as Takeshi Kovacs, in one fatal moment, joins forces with a mysterious woman who may have the power to shatter Harlan's World forever.

Weakest of the three! But still good!
Revisado: 12-20-18
I’ve listened to the whole series multiple times and found of the three books, listening each time brings out more of the story.
I don’t know why the story is more dense but at least Morgan is spending more time in the book developing complex relationship with Kovacs and the key women who has multiple personalities and ability to talk to Martian technology. I love the fact that the ‘bad guys' brought in a younger clone of Kovacs to kill him. Clever. However book device was sort of played out in the first book Altered Carbon previously. I really didn’t like Willian Dufris as narrator - as Todd McLaren did the first two books and the new guy’s voice didn’t fit, and he didn’t do well with making the voice fit the characters. My big complaint is that someone in the audio production thought it would be a good idea to put bad sounding ‘reverb’ on the Kovacs thinking narration. Cheesy and very distracting. One more thing - the narrator pronounces Kovacs as “Kovaks” not as “Kovach” which for anyone who has read the first two books knows - Takeshi Kovacs, the character is VERY picky about how his name is pronounced. It’s “Kovach” - NOT “Kovaks”. All this said, I still enjoy Morgan’s writing and would recommend the whole series.

OK, but Altered Carbon much better!
Revisado: 12-20-18
First of all I love the 1st book of this 3 book series. Altered Carbon. Seen Netflix multiple times, listened to the book at least 5 times also. Broken Angels is quite good but not as good at Altered Carbon. There are too many undeveloped characters introduced into the story to follow and the scope of the story - Martin spaceship and artifact technology / is a bit too big for the book. Valiant effort however. Can’t see this one being made into a movie as it would almost all have to be CGI. Based on the plot it harder to ‘care’ how things work, out as the personal passion is la bit lacking in the characters, except for blind minded archaeologue women who isn’t much of a 'good guy’. Kovacs in this book seems detached and is only in it as a mercenary so he isn’t really fighting for anything. I like it when he is motivated. Broken Angels is worth listening to especially if you like Kovacs the character and enjoy his banter in the books. Todd McLaren narrated the first book also and did a good job on this one.
