Amazing glimpse of life in spite of true atrocities
Revisado: 08-13-24
I’ve read several books about life as a prisoner in WWII but this one hit me even harder than the others, which is a good thing. I’m saddened to hear that people don’t want to hear about what it was truly like. We Need to know so we have a chance to stop it from ever happening again! Bless you for having the courage to have survived and to keep talking about it no matter what!

Historia
A well-researched historical setting provides the background against which the personal challenges and tragedies of the Graham Saga are set. In this book, we return to a Maryland presently torn apart by religious conflict - the hitherto so tolerant approach to various faiths is a thing of the past now that the staunchly Protestant William and Mary sit on the throne, and when Catholic friends of the Grahams end up in danger, Matthew and Alex must ride to the rescue.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Historia
They were the Boleyns, once one of England's most powerful family. Anne Boleyn captured the hand of Henry VIII, and now we see the rise and fall of their family fortunes through the eyes of the eldest Boleyn daughter, Mary. Mary Boleyn is overshadowed in history by her sister, Anne, but it was she who first caught the eye of Henry VIII, setting the stage for her family's dramatic rise to power - and ultimate fall from grace. Although Henry set her aside as his mistress, Mary still navigated the dangerous waters of the Tudor court while forging ahead to find a life.

Liked but had some holes
Revisado: 03-11-24
I absolutely could not stand the voice characterization of Ann, both Catherines and King Henry. All others were wonderful. Ann and little Catherine Carey sounded liked the narrator had a cold. Very annoying! As for the story itself, I’d very much like to know why the author changed the order of birth of Mary’s children and why she didn’t carry on the story through Mary’s life- only Ann’s. Perhaps a new edition with author’s notes???

Millions of people visit xkcd.com each week to read Randall Munroe's iconic webcomic. His stick-figure drawings about science, technology, language, and love have a large and passionate following. Fans of xkcd ask Munroe a lot of strange questions. What if you tried to hit a baseball pitched at 90 percent of the speed of light? How fast can you hit a speed bump while driving and live? If there were a robot apocalypse, how long would humanity last?

The book was interesting but the Narration was was Outstanding! Will Wheaton was amazing! Dear Audible, all books should be Acted and not read as if there were cue cards that keep falling down at inopportune moments. Will did not miss a beat. Thank you for a wonderful job.

I’m not good at writing but this book makes me want to try to tell you how amazing it was. I truly felt I was climbing the steps of the guoteen with Emily. I’m still reeling inside over the emotions that these women have evoked. This is a must read/listen!

Could have been GREAT but....
Revisado: 10-11-16
What did you like best about The Other Boleyn Girl? What did you like least?
Intriguing but because it skewed known history I was very disappointed!
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Stupid question for an historical novel
Have you listened to any of Susan Lyons’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not yet but loved her
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
NO I want to see more realistic movies. I hate based on the real event and then all the facts are changed!!!!
Any additional comments?
So many Americans read books like this and take them for facts so WHY would you change the facts??? Why follow so much history and then skew the rest????? It could have been a GREAT book!!! It could have been looked at as "Well maybe it did go down that" but instead.........

Thank you so very much for part 1. I don't know why but I can't wait to spend any amount of time I can with the characters from Outlander! They are like visiting with awesome family members. Thank you for all you books and allowing us common folk to see them as vividly as you do Diane. Your explanations make the characters even more alive and I cannot wait for more!!!

Loved the story amazing history! The narrator was a bit too enthusiastic though. I felt I could never take a breath because he never did. He rushed through the book. Needs to be a bit toned down for my taste need some time for things to sink in.
