Twelve miles above the Pacific Ocean, a missile strikes a jumbo passenger jet and leaves the flight crew either crippled or dead. This is the story of how three survivors must achieve the impossible and land the plane. Very pleased and surprised
Revisado: 03-10-07
When I first started reading this book I thought to myself, “Oh no. Another fly the pilot in by wire book”. This writer really did a great job with the story line. It was by all means a sitting on the edge of your seat story.

Gave it up
Revisado: 01-21-07
So Sorry but the audio quality was extremely poor. I was determined to finish this book but had to give it up. The narrator was quite monotone and the recording was quite muddy. The story line seemed to drag on forever with nothing happening.
Disappointed for sure

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

What a wonderful story
Revisado: 11-17-06
This book was one of my most favorite reads ever. Wonderful story that moved right along. The ending was ever so clever.
I hope somehow the author reads this so I can say, "Thanks".

Historia
Stoner knew. The fiery object hurtling toward the Earth was an alien spacecraft. But the world might never know. He was trapped in an iron cordon of secrecy, for the discovery had shattered the world power balance, setting off a brutal struggle for supremacy that raged from the sacred halls of the Vatican to the corridors of the Kremlin and the Pentagon. The forces of fear and treachery would use any weapon at their command, from mind war to sabotage, to keep the world in darkness.

Mostly Okay
Revisado: 08-17-06
This book caught my attention because I am a science fiction fan. I was hoping that the story line would be more about the space craft and what they found out about it.
This story is only a tiny bit about the UFO and mostly about what would happen on earth if we discovered a UFO. The author dives into the politics, world vision and discerning opinions of nations and individuals.
At times the story wandered and lost me but overall I enjoyed it.

Historia
In late 2003, in his column in Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King called The Memory of Running "the best novel you won't read this year." This glowing endorsement of the audiobook resulted in Ron McLarty receiving a $2 million two-book deal from Viking Penguin. Also, Warner Brothers has shelled out big bucks for the movie rights to The Memory of Running, for which McLarty will write the script.

Revisado: 01-20-05
I am just about to finish this book and had to take a minute and say how much I've been enjoying it. So many times I start a book and get disapointed.
Not since I've read Middlesex have I enjoyed a life-story book as much as this one.

Awesome story of survival
Revisado: 05-20-04
I too thought the book start a little slow. BUT, only a little. The story started by building the character of Pi. You need to know his background to support the rest of the story. I could not put this book down. I would get up early to go to work so I could listen to the story early.
This book was very well narrated.
