Historia
Hannibal’s military campaign against Rome inspired its citizens with the same panic that would later terrify Europeans beset by Mongol invaders from the East. A sworn enemy of Rome, Hannibal succeeded as leader of the Carthaginian forces at the age of 26, following the death of his brother-in-law Hasdrubal. On joining his troops, Hannibal launched an attack on the Roman-held city of Saguntum, beginning the Second Punic War and a process that seemed almost predestined as his army swept like a scourge round the Mediterranean shores.

A section of poor quality audio
Revisado: 07-15-24
A nice abridged retelling of classic history. The narration is fine, though there is a lengthy section where the audio quality drops, and it sounds like the narrator is speaking through a gramophone or while locked in another room.

Historia
The Ghosts of the Tanith First-and-Only have been away from the front line for too long. Listless and hungry for action, they are offered a mission that perfectly suits their talents. The objective: the mysterious Salvation's Reach, a remote and impenetrable stronghold concealing secrets that could change the course of the Sabbat Worlds campaign.

A Perfectly Fine Continuation
Revisado: 11-15-23
Several other reviews indicate the narrator ruins this book.
I found that to be not the case at all.
Yes, listening to 11 books with Toby Longworth makes this switch notable at first. Yes, Larkin's first line sounds like a dying parrot mimicking an old crone. The narrator quickly mellows out Larkin's voice, and does a perfectly fine job in all other respects. And, of course, we can't blame this narrator for changes to voices or pronunciation, as this audiobook was released prior to the others.
The book itself is another fun change of pace for the Ghosts. This book leans on character drama, perhaps to the point of being soapy at points, but there's enough action and you should care enough about the characters this far into the story to abide it.
If you've gotten this far listening to Gaunt's Ghosts, I see absolutely no reason to stop before this book.

Abridged and Ridiculous
Revisado: 09-12-23
The music and sound effects are so ridiculous that they make it almost impossible to focus on the story. The abridging leaves you lost in the story, missing large chunks of time and feeling as confused and amnesiac as the protagonist.
I loved the movies. After finishing this, I still have no idea if I would have liked the book.

Historia
It is the autumn of 1880, and Dr. John Watson has just returned from Afghanistan. Badly injured and desperate to forget a nightmarish expedition that left him doubting his sanity, Watson is close to destitution when he meets the extraordinary Sherlock Holmes, who is investigating a series of deaths in the Shadwell district of London. Several bodies have been found, the victims appearing to have starved to death over the course of several weeks, and yet they were reported alive and well mere days before.

Poor Imitation
Revisado: 07-20-23
The premise is intriguing, but unfortunately the story fails in replicating the all-too-crucial evocation of mystery found in either Lovecraft or Doyle's works. The characterization of two of fiction's foremost characters, Watson and Holmes, is unfaithful to the source material to an immersion-breaking extent.
Audible offers a fantastic deal on original works from both authors, which I recommend leaps and bounds over this poor imitation.
If you love the originals, this story will not compare either in prose or story. If you don't love the originals, why would you bother reading this?

A fun old-timey adventure
Revisado: 05-13-23
A well-narrated, classic tale.
In my opinion much better than 20,000 leagues, which I found to be dull.
This doesn't book lack in any of the antiquated science that inspires the imagination, and adds much drama to keep the pace entertaining.

Deep And Bleak
Revisado: 05-06-23
An apocalyptic tale with heart. Little action, little adventure, just the pathos and despair of a father and his son eeking by day after day.
I think the book resonates truly to some notions of fatherhood and depression, whether or not you live on a dying planet.

An activist attorney is killed in a cute little L.A. trolley called Angels Flight, far from Harry Bosch's Hollywood turf. Harry's year-old Vegas marriage is unraveling. And the hunt for a killer is leading Harry to another high-profile L.A. murder case, one where every cop had a motive. The question is, did any have the guts?

There, he can fly and is the champion of the Lost Boys and a friend to the fairy Tinker Bell. Revisiting England, Peter becomes involved with Wendy Darling and her younger brothers, all of whom accompany Peter to Neverland. Audible Original Drama
Revisado: 04-27-23
It isn't Peter Pan, more of a fan fiction of the original story.
The roles aren't superbly well acted, and the audio isn't always intelligible.
I'd say you're better off listening to the original
