Historia
Leave behind all the negative self-talk and use these simple steps to make even your wildest dreams come true! Did you know that over 300 million people worldwide suffer from low self-esteem, low self-confidence, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, and hopelessness? But it doesn't have to be this way. Overcoming these bad feelings is way easier than you might think. The things that we tell ourselves, about ourselves, become true. So, if we are stuck in this perpetual cycle of negative self-talk, things probably aren't going to go so well.

Loved it
Revisado: 03-24-23
I've been going through a really rough time the last few months and struggling with self worth and I put this on at night to sleep hoping maybe if someone said nice things when I wasn't actively listening I would hear it. And it worked. I've actually stayed up listening to the whole thing before and discovered that I'm applying this book in my waking life without realizing it. I love this book. It truly helped.

Historia
Our brains do their best to help us out, but every so often they can be real assholes - having meltdowns, getting addicted to things, or shutting down completely at the worst possible moments. Your brain knows it's not good to do these things, but it can't help it sometimes - especially if it's obsessing about trauma it can't overcome. That's where this life-changing book comes in. With humor, patience, science, and lots of good-ole swearing, Dr. Faith explains what's going on in your skull, and talks you through the process of retraining your brain to respond appropriately....

Interesting way to explain things.

I didn't get very far into this because this highly accomplished person, (see alphabet soup of titles) maybe tried to write this in a way that would resonate with a teenager? I'm not sure. It was a language I did not understand. I'm sure it's great for someone else.

Motivation to Exercise Affirmations

Historia
The law of attraction is based on the idea that everything in the universe has a polarity, meaning that everything - from the food you eat to the people you talk to the things you say to the things you think - contains either a positive or a negative kind of energy. Notice that being with people who complain or rant a lot tends to make you feel bad, even though you're not exactly experiencing what they're going through - that's the law of attraction working its magic.

This is not for sleep.
Revisado: 12-12-21
Chapter 3 is about 23ish mins long and is the only section with actual affirmations. The rest of the book details what affirmations are and how they work. That's all fine and well. I can set my sleep timer to shut off before chapter 4. Thing is, the dude reading the affirmations is saying them... affirmatively. Which again, is all fine and well... unless you wanted to sleep to this. I'm a big fan of sleep hypnosis stuff. I like hacking my brain when it's not paying attention because that's when adhd is paying it's closest attention. (confused? worry not, neurotypical.) The narrator is practically shouting. Even with the volume at it's lowest I have to put my phone under a blanket beside my pillow because I'm too cheap and lazy to find a better book. That all said, its not awful. I've heard worse. But there is nothing remotely sleep inducing about this.

Historia
Life is good for Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. They’re living together in a fabulous loft; their warlock son, Max, has started learning to walk; and the streets of New York are peaceful and quiet - as peaceful and quiet as they ever are, anyway. Until the night that two old acquaintances break into Magnus’s apartment and steal the powerful Book of the White. Now Magnus and Alec will have to drop everything to get it back. They need to follow the thieves to Shanghai, they need to call some backup to accompany them, and they need a babysitter.

Great story, awful narration.
Revisado: 01-13-21
The Shadow World has had some rough narration but this is one of the worst. It's distractingly bad. Everyone sounds like they're chain smoking valley girls and he mispronounces things. I should not be cringing away from my favorite characters, I should be immersed in them. Idk why they insist on changing the readers nearly every book, but this one can't go fast enough.
