Inspirational with Practical Advice

After hearing Noah Kagan on some of my favorite podcasts, I knew I had to get his book. I’m so glad I did! This book is inspiring, yet very practical. There are tons of exercises to lead you in the right direction towards entrepreneurship. I’m excited to get started…now. Thank you Noah!

Time to Slow Down

I’ve worked in several roles that required intense periods of dedicated work. Most recently as an Elections executive for a county government. This led to burnout, mainly because there were no slow periods for two straight years. I quit this job and happily took a pay cut to increase the quality of my life.

Leading up to this decision, which happened immediately after a recall election in 2021, I started embraced the advice from Cal Newport which transformed my career. With my role following, I started slowing down and focusing on quality. I scheduled deep work sessions as much as I could. This led to more opportunities and promotions than I ever imagined.

I’m excited to embrace some of the strategies in Slow Productivity to further enhance my quality of life and the work I produce. For anyone stressed out over work, read Slow Productivity and give these steps a try.

I really enjoyed listening to Outlive and learned a ton. I’ve taken so many notes on actions I need to complete. In addition to Outlive, I have followed Peter Attia’s work since hearing him on The Tim Ferriss Show. I’ve learned so much and have benefited greatly from all of the content he has produced. Systems are Everywhere!

The Author, Sam Carpenter, kindly sent me a copy of this book after a friendly email exchange. I really enjoy this book along with his first book, Work the System. The Systems Mindset does a great job explaining the systems that run our lives. I have embraced these principals which has helped me both personally and professionally. Once you “get it” they will help you as well.

I’ve read each of Jocko’s books but didn’t quite know what to expect when I ordered this book.

As the story started, I found myself completely sucked in. I couldn’t stop listening from beginning to end.

Great story with layers of leadership along the way.

Really impressive for Jocko’s first fiction book for adults.

Must Read for Leaders

I’ve read every book that Jocko has written. This includes all of the children’s books that I’ve read to my son. His books have taught me a ton and helped me to be a better leader and human being.

This book is my favorite. Sections 3 and 4 were especially impactful and I will use these strategies that were explained. I really liked the section on Reflect and Diminish. I have already started using some of his advice and the results have been better than expected.

If you lead or follow others, reading this book will help you improve.

Building Better Leaders

The Dichotomy of Leadership explains many of the leadership challenges from a combat perspective as well as an application to business. I appreciate the format of this book and have recommended it to many of the people I work with. Along with Extreme Ownership, this book helps create better leaders and a stronger work culture that encourages accountability instead of blaming others. I have seen first hand how this change in mindset can help a company grow and improve. Thank you Jocko and Leif for another exceptional leadership book.

I Believe in Extreme Ownership!

Listening to Extreme Ownership has been the best audio book experience that I have ever had. I'm so thrilled that the authors read this book because the passion in their beliefs really shined through. Their stories were gripping and inspirational. I really appreciated how they translated their combat knowledge the the business world. If you have not read/listened to Extreme Ownership, please do. It has already changed how I carry myself at work and has helped me be a stronger leader. Thank you Jocko and Leif.
