Great starting point with the basic info! She did a great job keeping her voice just as calm and peaceful as the topic! I will listen to this multiple times I’m sure.

Historia
You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself. But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

Mental health, polygamy & abuse
Revisado: 01-10-25
The story did catch my attention and I wasn’t bored at all. It was a must finish read! But it almost seemed like it was poking fun at mental health issues. Then having to hear so much about polygamy and abuse … not fun topics. But still interesting.

It seemed slow
Revisado: 12-09-24
The author made the person seem ‘dumb’. Many of us have epilepsy and were very smart. When it starts to affect the brain longer and more significantly is when brain damage starts to happen. Which includes memory loss.
I did like how he shared so much of his story. Even knowing everyone can experience it somewhat differently.

Historia
Its landscaped ground, chosen by Frederick Law Olmsted and dotted with Tudor mansions, could belong to a New England prep school. There are no fences, no guards, no locked gates. But McLean Hospital is a mental institution - one of the most famous, most elite, and once most luxurious in America. Gracefully Insane, by Boston Globe columnist Alex Beam, is a fascinating and emotional biography of McLean Hospital from its founding in 1817 through today.

Historia
Talking about death and dying is considered taboo in polite company, and even in the medical field. Our ideas about dying are confusing at best: Will our memories flash before our eyes? Regrets consume our thoughts? Does a bright light appear at the end of a tunnel? For most people, it will be a slower process, one eased with preparedness, good humor, and a bit of faith. At the forefront of changing attitudes around palliative care is hospice nurse Hadley Vlahos, who shows that end-of-life care can teach us just as much about how to live as it does about how we die.

Wonderful accounts of various hospice patients. I enjoyed how open and honest this was. Not trying to push anything on you. Just the actual truths of these people and what they went through by her pov.

Revisado: 07-07-24
The narrator could be a bit bland. But the story was so descriptive and complete. It pulled you in and made you want to finish it! Now I want to see the movie :) While I can’t make it over there to check the zoo out, I’m very proud of this family!

A whole new view!
Revisado: 07-05-24
Loved hearing a whole new look at people who are typically cast out for being ‘different’. This would be amazing if the world could accept every single person like in this book. I agree the higher ups need trained to be more accepting. It could be a much better world.
The only thing that I almost didn’t like was the dull voice. But if you listen when you need the calmness, it’s more soothing than dull. I loved it! Thanks for noticing all the sensitive people :)

Pathological liar and murders

I don’t really like female narrators so probably would’ve been better with a deeper voice. But the story itself was kind of all over the place and I kept getting bored. I liked hearing about the Florida keys!
