have been enjoying the series until this one. it feels like a completely different person with no talent buy knowledgeable about medieval estate management decided to step in. just mind numbingly boring. could not even get through half of this.

it's a cross between Doom and D&D

Omg. The monotony of killing murderous human mutants infected by alien goo through many levels of a starship is just mind numbing. That's all that's happening. I'm got to chapter 20 something and just can't stand it any longer. If you want to listen to somebody describing a FPS game then this is the book for you.

A boy scout laying it a bit thick...

A great concept but the rah-rah, USA-USA, gets annoying pretty quick. The story arcs are predictable, interactions are monochrome and dialog is banal. RC, as always, delivers a superb performance but is encombered by subpar writing.

I've given this a serious try. Twice. But just ouldn't do it. The mind numbing PC, petty squabbling, and driveling dialog makes for toxic vibe. Pitty.

An awkward, amaturish Backyard Starship knock-off

I could barely finish this one. The story is a blatant knock-off of the Backyard Starship series. Just the galactic park rangers instead of galactic cops. The characers are flat, the dialog is self-rightiously naive, the motivations are improbable, and the action impossible. Think of a well meaning teenage author, inspired by the afore-mentioned series giving it a good college try but failing in all aspects of writing a story. Save you credits and look elsewhere.

This should have been the first draft and never released. I've listend to Bobiverse books many times each. Just finished the first 2 books of Outland in 3 days. All excellent. Which makes this one all the more dissapointing. It felt oversimplified and rushed to the point of inconherence. Pass this one in the hopes that DET will rewrite it as a trilogy with more time to explore this in more detail.
