Not as good as it could be. Not worth the price.
Revisado: 10-07-24
I enjoyed the premise, but the follow through needs a lot of work. The author should have done a lot more research. There are a lot of assumptions made that just are not realistic. I live near the first fueling point for his Humvee in Paraganoh, The depiction of the place was unrealistic. I know that the town is settled by Mormons. They are prepared, the town would not be abandoned.
I read the book continuously shaking my head. Scenario after scenario that were built on false assumptions and little real world experience. The ideas that a non-AI computer could come up with would be limited. Oil field fires?
Sorry, I could go on and on. The book is not worth the price.

Historia
Lauren Russell often wondered why her father had been so adamant about teaching her skills that most other fathers wouldn't even consider teaching their daughters. Ever since she was little, she had been taught how to live and survive outdoors, and how to use firearms to protect herself and those around her. Some of the training had been a bit extreme. Or had it been? Many of her questions were answered the day the world as she knew it ended.

It's good, but 1 credit per book?
Revisado: 04-28-21
I enjoyed reading this story strictly for the entertainment value in a topic I like. Obviously some scenarios would not happen as described, but it was a good book.
I can see a many different SHTF scenarios breaking down into similar scenarios.
I am looking forward to the final book.
I think many of the books should have been combined. They are too short and not really worth a credit each. Amazon/Audible needs to combine series into box sets.

Excellent!
Revisado: 01-11-16
Would you listen to Path of Destruction again? Why?
Yes, good books are worth going over again and picking up more details I may have missed. I am a Star Wars fan and enjoy the small details.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Path of Destruction?
Knowing that there are three books in the series made every struggle and battle outcome predetermined. Having the female lead finally eliminated was good.
Have you listened to any of Jonathan Davis’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but he was excellent.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wish I could have, but I had to split it over a couple of days.

Historia
Indulge, slip away to Ruin Mist! In the Service of Dragons is the continuation of Robert Stanek's multilayered epic fantasy adventure that began with The Kingdom and the Elves of the Reaches, Books 1-4. In that acclaimed series, Stanek introduced us to the story of Ruin Mist, an extraordinary world of magic, adventure, and intrigue. In this eagerly awaited follow-up, he once again proves himself a wonderful storyteller with a gift for fast pacing and believable storylines.

What would have made In the Service of Dragons better?
No, I punished myself to get through this one, actually all eight only because I had already paid for them. Karl is a great narrator, but the story was so incomplete and full of holes. It reads like this. ""Step into my tent, I have a plan." The plan was so beautiful that they won without effort and moved out onto the plan to continue their quest." - Huh? What was the plan about. The book lacks detail. It is multiple groups of characters that continually get into situations that resolve themselves in confusing and unknown ways. The characters refer back to conversations that were had, but not given details about. It makes me think of someone coming up with a story outline, filling in some of the story, and then pulling out the story outline. All you have left is some of the in between.

Historia
A dark shadow has been cast across the known lands. War sweeps through the divided nations of men and elves. There is great despair for the future of men, for if the greatest of all kingdoms can fail there can be no hope in tomorrow's tomorrow for any man in any land. Yet there is deeper despair amongst the elven peoples where for the first time in recorded history the elves of the West and East are at war with each other.

Where does A Storm of Swords rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Listening in the car as we drive, this is a nice long and entertaining story. In books 3 and 4 the voices of the characters change. Roy also changes the pronunciation of several of the names, big changes. Patai becomes Peter.

Historia
After the Great War that divided the peoples, the kingdoms of men plunged into a Dark Age that lasted 500 years. To heal the lands and restore the light, the great kings decreed that magic and all that is magical, be it creature, man, or device, shall be cleansed to dust. The cleansing raged for so long that no human could recall a time without it and it is in this time that the Dark Lord Sathar returned from the dark beyond.

Too far in to turn around but disappointed
Revisado: 11-22-05
I have barely enjoyed the books so far. I do not like how each new book jumps one quarter of the way ahead and backfills as the story moves forward. A lot of information is not even filled in. I am disappointed that I have paid for four downloads so far and each is shorter than four CD's. Each book is just a group of chapters. They are not seperate stories or three act plays. It should be one book. I am even more disappointed that I cannot find the fifth book in the series on CD. How many more books will it take to finish this story?
