Historia
"She sings jumping and dancing, her fists alternately clenching and breaking open to clap; the corners of her marvelous mouth turning down in the fierceness of joy breaking through anguish; her hair covering her eyes until swept back with a meaty hand. In great shouts that send her strings of beads flying and knot her face into grimaces, the energy explodes and explodes again, sending out waves of electrical excitement. Some say she can sing more than one note at a time; maybe, but does it matter? In her every note there are infinite meanings."

Short but sweet
Revisado: 10-15-20
A glimpse into the mind and heart of Janis Joplin, very well done. No sugar coating, no sensationalizing but a moment in time in a brief, chaotic, very human life.

Excellent as always

I read a lot of Of Urban Fantasy and for awhile now this has been my favorite series. I love her character development and the emotional commitment I make to them. This latest book does not disappoint.

Historia
"Happily Ever After" wasn't supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of 20 years packs up and heads for greener pastures, and my son heads away to college, that's exactly what my midlife becomes. A do-over. This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at 40 I'm ready to carve my own path. Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills.

Historia
Sarah Zellaby has always been in an interesting position. Adopted into the Price family at a young age, she's never been able to escape the biological reality of her origins: She's a cuckoo, a telepathic ambush predator closer akin to a parasitic wasp than a human being. Friend, cousin, mathematician - it's never been enough to dispel the fear that one day, nature will win out over nurture, and everything will change. Maybe that time has finally come.

Fantastic addition
Revisado: 03-01-20
I have loved the InCrytid books since I discovered them a few years ago and binged on them til I caught up. It was wonderful for Sarah’s character to be completely fleshed our in this book. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Slow in places but still great
Revisado: 08-25-18
I love Patricia Briggs and this one did not disappoint. I found that it got bogged down in places - a lot of description and Charles’ inner monologues are at times a bit tedious but Briggs does such a good job creating and expanding on her Worlds and mythology that the slow times can be overlooked, in my opinion.

I didnt think I could love a series more than I love the Jane Yellowrock series but I was wrong. This book is wonderful. I listened to it again as soon as I finished it the first time.

Too much internal dialogue
Revisado: 06-26-16
I enjoy this series and author. But this book uses way too much of Alex's internal thoughts, too much explanation of every little thing. It gets tedious and I seriously considered not finishing the book because of it.

Historia
Demonstrating once again her gift for spellbinding storytelling, Anne Rice makes real for us a great dynasty of four centuries of witches - a family given to poetry and incest, murder and philosophy, a family that over the ages is itself haunted by a powerful, dangerous, and seductive being called Lasher who haunts the Mayfair women. Moving in time from today's New Orleans and San Francisco to long-ago Amsterdam and the France of Louis XIV, from the coffee plantations of Port-au-Prince to Civil War New Orleans and back to today, Anne Rice has spun a mesmerizing tale.

Not the right accents
Revisado: 10-24-15
This is one of my favorite books. I've read it twice and decided after a number of years to listen on audible. I'm enjoying it very much with one glaring exception. The narrator inexplicably insists on giving characters who are New Orleans natives a Boston or Brooklyn accent. It's very distracting and aggravating. I love the book however and if I could get past the inaccurate accents - and utter lack of Louisiana accents - it would be thoroughly enjoyable.
