Could have been good but not worth a credit. The idea had promise but in the end I didn’t care much about any of the characters. The storyline was actually well written but the overall story was boring and not engaging enough.

First, there is complete non con here. Be warned!
This is dark. The ”hero” is not redeemable.
I like the dark but give the story 3,5 as there is absolutely no growth in the FMC. Her behavior and thoughts never develop and makes her a dull character. Really, there is almost no reason for us to hear her side of the story.
Still, if you’re in for the really dark stuff Mariano is your go to. Just wish she’d allow her FMC grow a tiny bit of spine. Just a tiny bit.

This is a nice book, not too angsty and not about teenagers. The FMC is really cool and the
guys are a good mix of sexy, mysterious snd angry.
However… that first sex scene nearly made me stop listening. It was so badly written ”her hands squeeze my hard pectorals as she takes in my chiseled chin and well trained body ” I kid you not! And it gets worse from that.
The sex does get better after that first scene though. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Love a grownup being the strong heroine but…

The story and worldbuildig is great but… the book should have been 5 hours shorter! With an adult woman I expected less juvenile thoughts, words and actions. The entire first half of the book was FMC whining ”oh but I love him, but I hate him, but he is the love of my life, but he can never be mine, but he loves me, but I’m not worthy, but he’s an asshole, but he’s also wonderful” on repeat! Over and over and over! Just give the characters time to grow and stop the whining after two hours? Just a thought. I almost stopped listening because it did little for the storyline. Luckily after those 8 or so hours of annoyingness it finally took off and the book became what I’d hoped for and the cliffhanger is great! I will get the next book in hopes of the characters growing, the intense story keeps up and less adolescent whining. Story gets three for that but overall a good listen.

I love Penelope Douglas books but somehow, despite the interesting take on a love story I didn’t really care about the characters. It was a nice listen but nothing to rave about. Or perhaps it was just over hyped and I went in with to high expectancy?

This, as so many other series, should have been 2-3 books, not a million ones with 90% fluff and 10% story. Also, I get that they’re teenagers but it’s getting stupid! The dinner party in the middle being the reason that despite the good plot twists I just can’t anymore. Listened to the end but won’t bother with the rest of the series.

This is three stories in one. The book, the list, Tony.
Although Ronson ties it together in the end I feel like there was a lot of ”middle”.
Not sure exactly why I’m not a fan. I usually like this author/journalist/podder. But this feels a bit rambling…

Also, why would it be safer for her to be in the army? No one tells us…
Our female lead Sasha would never have been accepted into any military in any country, neither male nor female! If you want us to cheer for a woman fighting to be in a man’s world u need to make her at least a little bit of a bad ass.
Sasha can’t follow orders. She’s neither physically nor mentally strong enough to be in any army. Least of all the Russian army!
It is soon clear that the author knows nothing about Russian army or even Russian culture.
Thus, in the end the story is not only ridiculous but also boring.
Rina Kent has written too many books to fall into all of these traps. She knows better. She should give us a strong tough female lead. Instead we get this unintelligent person who is just…
I’m sorry. I just can’t. Won’t spend any money for the next books (if it was a duet, perhaps, but 2 more credits? I think not).
I enjoy a lot of ms Kent’s books but this is just lazy writing.

On screen adaptions of this story are horror like, but the story itself is about a failing man, father, husband, friend; as is 90 % of Kings work. The fear is not so much about what happens but the choices. And whilst a reanimated cat is scary on screen, it’s mostly about bad choices in the book. Really really bad choices. Also, BUILD A FRACKIN FENCE!!!

The problems with this book is not that it’s dark. I was looking for dark. However. There is
A: no story. Just a lot of postering and pain-sex
B: there is absolutely no chemistry between the main characters.
C: what’s up with the Stoma? I get that giving a main villain/character a weakness is a god idea and that many people live with a stoma. However… it’s not really sexy. It brings nothing to building the male character up. I’m not looking for reality here. I’m looking for escape from real life. This book does nothing for me.
