Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story.

Check out Sylvia Table: he drives a seafoam-green 1968 Ranchero, owns a badass sword, and is one dead uncle away from an inheritance that should set him and the love of his life, Lady Sixkiller, on the road to easy living and the family she’s always wanted. Sure, he may not be cut out for any kind of conventional job, but as long as Lady can hold things down as a waitress until rich old Methuselah shuffles off this mortal coil, what’s the big deal? Yes, things are looking good for Sylvia Table, aka Big Noise, aka Grandest Poobah, aka Big Quiche.

Well done - but a bit too untethered for my taste.
Revisado: 12-05-23
Well written with extraordinarily developed characters. Strong sense of voice. But a bit too adventitious for my liking, especially with a depressing and sanctimonious for me. But I’m not a great fan of Cormac McCarthy either…

Beautifully written, excellently performed. Not my usual read, yet now a favorite. I would likely scoff at a book of such a fantastic story, but this was perfectly presented. Very well laid out and written. I will forever be more open to extending my typical reading preferences because of The Love Scribe.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Not a usual romance reader but thoroughly enjoyed this
Revisado: 04-01-23
Sometimes you just need a good love story with just the right amount of angst that it falls short from overwhelming or gutting you.
Life is, at times, too much reality to appreciate any more honesty from within your usual escape hatch. Sometimes you just need those perfectly tailored rose colored glasses in order to face another day.
I returned this book once. But I also know that is never an indication of a novel’s value. As, I am a believer in the philosophy that a Book Chooses You… when the time is right for you to understand and appreciate it. Thanks for giving me a bit of pink sunlight when I needed it, Emily. Touché.

Terrible narration. Why choose a make to narrate a story with 3 leading ladies!?! The entire book was read by him trying to sound female by using a breathy voice.
The story was uneventful. No story line twist or climax.

Excellent writing
Revisado: 02-13-22
I have listened to many audio books and never left a review, although I’ve been dazzled by many novels. This one is so interesting. The story is a pop culture psych thriller which sounds cheap and cheesy. But the writing is anything but. The author is so imaginative with the narrative that it’s a story that tickles all your senses. Will be looking for more from this author.
