Historia
MSNBC’s Mehdi Hasan isn’t one to avoid arguments. He relishes them as the lifeblood of democracy and the only surefire way to establish the truth. Arguments help us solve problems, uncover new ideas we might not have considered, and nudge our disagreements toward mutual understanding. A good argument, made in good faith, has intrinsic value—and can also simply be fun.

Historia
If the broken neon signs, shuttered storefronts, and sub-standard housing didn’t tip you off, you’ve just wandered into the city of “Undisclosed”. You don’t want to be caught dead here, because odds are you just might find yourself rising from the grave. That hasn’t stopped tourists from visiting to check out the unusual phenomena that hangs around our town like radioactive fallout. Interdimensional parasites feeding on human hosts, paranormal cults worshipping demonic entities, vengeful teenage sorcerers, we’ve got it all.

Raunchy and hilarious
Revisado: 05-15-19
Perfect cast, hilarious storytelling, all around a great listen! If you are a fan of fantasy parody (critical failures, magic 2.0, kill the farm boy, etc) this series will tickle your fancy. I really hope they make more.

Historia
Ashok Vadal was once a member of the highest caste in all of Lok. As a Protector, he devoted his life to upholding the Law, rooting out those who still practiced the old ways and delivering justice with his ancestor blade Angruvadal. None was more merciless than he in stamping out the lingering belief in gods and demons among the casteless. His brutality was legendary and celebrated. But soon Ashok learned that his life to that point had been a lie. He himself, senior member of the Protector Order, was casteless. He had been nothing more than an unwitting pawn in a political game.

Vibrant sci-fi fantasy
Revisado: 05-12-19
Correia has brought a truly fantastic universe into being with this series. The the heroes and heroines have weight and depth; the villains are complex and formidable, and every battle has them all dancing on a knife's edge with disaster reaching up on either side.
As always, Tim Gerard Reynolds delivers an outstanding performance. This series will be an automatic buy for me going forward and I can't wait for the next book to arrive.

So much more than sex
Revisado: 04-09-19
Golden Angel has achieved something spectacular in this series: balance. All of the characters in the world of Stronghold possess richly developed personalities and arcs without stealing the spotlight from the main storyline. There is so much more in this book than hot BDSM play; it's emotional, empowering, educational, not to mention laugh out loud funny! Yes, the love scenes are intensely erotic, but the story doesn't rely on them to keep the reader's interest. It's all about the characters and how they interact. Really looking forward to reading the next one the series.

Historia
A plucky farm boy will find more than he's bargained for on his quest to awaken the sleeping princess in her cursed tower. First there's the Dark Lord, who wishes for the boy's untimely death...and also very fine cheese. Then there's a bard without a song in her heart but with a very adorable and fuzzy tail, an assassin who fears not the night but is terrified of chickens, and a mighty fighter more frightened of her sword than of her chain-mail bikini. This journey will lead to sinister umlauts, a trash-talking goat, and the Dread Necromancer Steve....

I liked the story (I think)
Revisado: 11-27-18
Very disorienting. Lots of interesting characters seemed to exit rather abruptly when it was no longer convenient for them to be to present. It seemed almost as though the story was written during 5 or 6 consecutive role playing sessions in which half the players were only able to make it to 1 or 2 of the meetings. It's a really fun premise for a story, and I did enjoy seeing so many fantasy cliches lambasted. I just wish they had dedicated a bit more focus to developing any one of the main characters. they clearly had a starting point, an end point, and particular scenes they wanted to visit along the way, but the vignettes felt hastily stitched together.

Well executed procedural sci-fi
Revisado: 06-23-18
Ray Porter is quickly becoming one of my favorite readers. The production team also did a great job, with audio effects utilized for phone conversations adding a lot to the story. It reminded me of the sort of "radio drama" that used to be very popular. The story itself was engaging, and introduced an interesting approach to a common sci-fi concept. not groundbreaking, but overall satisfying. Would love to read more in this universe.

Perfect rainy day fantasy
Revisado: 03-10-18
James Marsters employs the perfect edge of sarcasm and gritty urbanity in voicing the classless quip machine that is Chicago's only practicing professional wizard. Butcher's tales seamlessly blend noir gumshoe mystery with even blacker (and whiter) paranormal urban fantasy.
I'm currently taking my second lap through this series, and while I recall the vagaries of each book I find myself pleasantly surprised and horrified at each deft twist of the plot.
The Dresden Files will remain on my list of "go to" recommendations for anyone interested in the PUF genre.

Don't. pass. this. up.
Revisado: 01-29-18
Spectacular. Brilliantly imagined and robust science fiction from start to finish. If you aren't reading Adrian Tchaikovsky, it's time to start.
Readers will be confronted with a frighteningly plausible vision of Humanity's future, with an entirely alien race facing all too familiar conflicts.
Tchaikovsky masterfully alludes to elements from humanity's past in chronicling generation after generation of dilated alien history.
Each character has a satisfying weight; even though eons and generations pass, the tangled web of events and common threads leave the reader gliding through time and space effortlessly.

HOT with a PLOT!
Revisado: 11-27-17
G. Angel is so deft at creating believable characters. It's frighteningly easy to imagine oneself interacting with the people in the book, they just seem like the kind of folks you'd want to hang out with. That's what makes these books so much fun; it feels like a close friend is next to you on the couch, spilling all the scandalous details of their wild weekend, as well as the resulting fallout.
The story itself calls Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty to mind, but without the pony play and with a whole lot more consenting adults to round out the kink. Great book.
