Good, but misses great.
Revisado: 04-11-21
This novel has a LOT to commend, but somehow misses the mark at being great. It is difficult to put my finger on exactly what did not work, I can argue the other side of every area where I might try to give some constructive criticism, so instead I will focus on the good. In many ways this reminded me of the best of Clancy's late-cold war works. Greaney did a good job of interweaving the stories of the various characters in this complex tale. I did enjoy the novel, it was creative, plausible, interesting, great characters, well performed. I love Greaney's writing and think he is a GREAT writer and story teller, but this work was a bit frustrating, somehow missing the mark and not living up to his other efforts.

This has to be the stupidest... WOW I am a convert
Revisado: 11-08-20
People have been telling me to read Larry Correia for years... every time I am given this advice I look at the titles and descriptions and say no thanks. Despite this attitude I ended up with this title anyway. Sometime later looking at my library I saw this title and scratched my head: "The Adventures of Tom Stranger Interdimensional Insurance Agent"?! This has to be bad... but it is only a couple hours long and it **is** narrated by Adam Baldwin (My Body Guard, Full Metal Jacket, Independence Day, The Patriot, Firefly, Chuck...) so I gave it a shot.
Oh my goodness gracious! This book is fantastic! Hilarious, ironic, self-aware! I loved it! Narration? - Why isn't Adam Baldwin working full time narrating books?! Baldwin was great!!
I am a convert!

Historia
In what is considered one of Heinlein's most hair-raising, thought-provoking, and outrageous adventures, the master of modern science fiction tells the strange story of an even stranger world. It is 21st-century Luna, a harsh penal colony where a revolt is plotted between a bashful computer and a ragtag collection of maverick humans, a revolt that goes beautifully until the inevitable happens. But that's the problem with the inevitable: it always happens.

Perhaps my favorite AudioBook Ever
Revisado: 10-25-20
The storytelling, writing, message and narration are al brilliant! I own more than 2,000 works of fiction through Audible and this is my favorite work! I re-listen to this book about every 18-24 months. I am a fan of a lot of Heinlein's work; but without at doubt this is his crowning achievement.

Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Historia
To live in a pristine land unchanged by man... to roam a wilderness through which few other humans have passed... to choose an idyllic site, cut trees and build a log cabin... to be a self-sufficient craftsman, making what is needed from materials available... to be not at odds with the world but content with one's own thoughts and company. Thousands have had such dreams, but Richard Proenneke lived them.

Wonderfully written and narrated adventure tale!
Revisado: 06-09-20
I have long known about Richard Proenneke - his building a cabin in the Alaskan wilderness and living there for 30 years, but had never read his book, nor seen any of the documentaries. I purchased this audiobook and it sat neglected for several years. When I finally listened to it this spring I was delighted to learn that the book was even better than I had ever imagined. Wonderfully written, **and** narrated, this is a wonderful tale of Proennekee's adventure of building his cabin and first 16 months (of what would become 30 year) life in the Alaskan wilds.

Jack Carr can write and does so with authority
Revisado: 05-21-20
Jack Carr does everything right in this novel! So many novels in this genre are written by writers who really don't know the world they are writing about - even the heralded best-selling authors drive me nuts with their technical errors that cause me to stumble and ruin what would otherwise a good read. A number of other writers do get the technical details correct are often not particularly good storytellers or writers. In contrast, Jack Carr hits **all** the marks: Wonderful storytelling, great writing while getting the details correct without beating those details over the heads of those who (unlike me) don't care. I am already a Ray Porter fan, but his narration performance in this book stands out against his already strong body of work! I will be pre-ordering whatever Jack Carr puts out next!!

Historia
When tomorrow is harder than today, how will you endure? Peter preached boldly in one moment and cursed cowardly in another. His faith and obedience went up and down, down and up. But through it all, the grace of Jesus toward Peter endured. This is also how we will endure - through the amazing, enduring grace of God. In 21 stories, authors Stephen Morefield and Benjamin Vrbicek trace the life and teaching of the Apostle Peter as he followed Jesus. Peter’s story gives us hope that Jesus really is a friend of sinners and mighty to save.
