Historia
Drawing from her work as a psychoanalyst and cantadora (keeper of old stories), Dr. Estes uses myths and folktales to illustrate how societies systematically strip away the feminine spirit. Through an exploration into the nature of the wild woman archetype, Dr. Estes helps listeners rediscover and free their own wild nature.

It’s great to hear the author narrative the book. It’s ballsy—just what I needed.

Historia
From badass writer Hannah Jewell, She Caused a Riot is an empowering, no-holds-barred look into the epic adventures and dangerous exploits of 100 inspiring women who were too brave, too brilliant, too unconventional, too political, too poor, not ladylike enough, and not white enough to be recognized by their shitty contemporaries.

Revolutionary Women
Revisado: 09-17-21
The text is very entertaining and I enjoyed hearing all of the anecdotes about women whose contributions to history were overlooked. However, I thought the narrator's voice was very annoying. She sounds sarcastic all the time. I understand that sarcasm is a tool to make us laugh, and I get it, but the tone of her voice makes it hard for me to take what she is saying seriously. Also, I wish the author would stay on one subject (each woman's biography) longer and go more in depth. Sometimes it feels like she is glossing over too many details and going too quickly. I would have liked to have gone more in depth with Hildegard van Bingen, for instance, or Sappho. I think I will just buy the book and read that so I don't have to listen to the narrator.

Historia
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Historia
Being a woman is, largely, about performance - how we dress and modify our bodies, what we say, the roles we play, and how we conform to expectations. Gender stereotypes are still deeply embedded in our society, but Emer O'Toole is on a mission to rewrite the old script and bend the rules of gender - and she shows how and why we should all be joining in. Exploring what it means to "act like a girl", Emer takes us on a hilarious and thought-provoking journey through her life.

I enjoyed hearing the author's Irish accent as she read her story. Her experiences aligned with mine, and helped me see the rituals that young girls undergo in a new light. I'm going to put segments of her book on my syllabus and make it required reading for my students.
