Transtemporal travel at its very best....
Revisado: 04-24-25
What a wonderful captivating tale.
This story just flew by. I couldn’t believe it was over already. It concluded extremely well with a beautiful resolution to a complex story but I didn’t want the it to end. There are so many layers and angles left open ended… I'm sure done purposely, leaving the reader to ponder the possibilities long after the book is brought to its satisfying close.
Loved the details infused into this story which were better appreciated going over some chapters a second time.
There was solid character development. You can see them believably grow and evolve as the story progresses… very well done.
It was also masterfully narrated by Miranda Raison. She had a solid command of the myriad characters and accents and brought the characters to life. I will be looking for more books narrated by her.
This story sticks with you and messes with your head in the best way possible....overall it was time very well spent.

Slow Slow burn...
Revisado: 04-19-25
I appreciate a good juicy psychological thriller as much as the next person but I felt the story was too drawn out and unnecessarily long...following characters that were not very likeable. When the big reveal finally came, albeit a nice twist I didn't see coming, it rang somewhat hollow because I didn't really care about any of the characters.
It's an interesting story line but I wish there was more character development especially in a book that runs almost 12hrs!
With all the rave reviews, I expected more...

In this thrilling second book of the Earthborn trilogy, Lucas and Asha have survived the decimation of Earth at the hands of the invading Xalans and seek safe haven with their enemy's true foes, the Sorans. They find a lush planet inhabited by a civilization far more advanced than their own, waging a seemingly endless war against a constantly evolving enemy. The Sorans call the pair of them the "Earthborn", and they're welcomed as heroes, almost as gods.

Great intergalactic adventure...
Revisado: 04-16-25
I actually enjoyed this book better than the first.
It picked up right where book 1 left off and introduced more interesting characters with a deeper storyline.
I like the notion of earthlings being the aliens for once.
As with the first book, Victor Bevine was tremendously entertaining, deftly carrying the listener through the highs and lows of the story with great voice distinction between the characters. I am going to have to look for more books narrated by him.
The final battle scene was riveting.
I must say I really appreciate that this great trilogy is included in my audible subscription although these books are totally credit worthy.

Fun Sci-Fi Tale...
Revisado: 04-16-25
This was an enjoyable and imaginative story with great character development.
I was wonderfully narrated by Victor Bevine who kept the listener engaged as he expertly altered the pace, pitch and inflections of his voice to augment and enrich each scene.
Great buildup and climax with just enough resolution to keep you interested in the next installment.
Looking forward to the next book.

Rationalization is a powerful thing…
Revisado: 04-08-25
This was a thought provoking exposition of the triumphs and pitfalls of the mine field of unfettered technology and the slippery slope of its capacity and inevitable unforeseen consequences.
This technology is here and firm limitations must be established before it evolves beyond this fledging stage.
The narrators did a great job keeping the listener engaged and anticipating the next developments of this cautionary tale.
There were a couple of elements that had somewhat hollow resolutions but did not negatively impact the story.
I appreciate the supplemental questions at the end of the book to foster further introspective musings or to foster lively conversation among a group

Right up my alley....
Revisado: 03-26-25
I was drawn in from the opening sentences of the prologue and it kept my interest throughout.
Nice build up and introduction of the characters.
As usual, Derek Perkins did a masterful job narrating the book...He's actually the reason I decided to invest time in this book. He did such wonderful job narrating the Godling Chronicles, I had to give this book a try.
It ended with just enough intrigue that makes me want to go on to book 2

Great balance of fact and artistic license
Revisado: 03-26-25
I thoroughly enjoyed the artistic license infused between the lines of scripture. It really humanized the story which was well researched thereby giving the story an air of authenticity.
It was beautifully and eloquently narrated by Stina Nielsen.
My favorite quote in the book... "No one can live in doubt if they have prayed in faith."

Entertaining Mystery
Revisado: 03-26-25
I was drawn by the provocative storyline but what held me was the narrator's clear well paced and engaging voice.
There was some nice twists and I enjoyed how the story unfolded
The time jumps were well done and did a good job keeping the story organized and contained.
I like the main character and i think I'll pick up the second installment of this series.

Fantastic tale beautifully and seamlessly woven...
Revisado: 03-10-25
A successful sequel is one that so richly builds and embellishes the story that it makes you appreciate the introductory story more. This is one such sequel
I found myself going back to book 1 to go over the corresponding scenes the two books share as the two complement each other so well. It was fun superimposing the timelines from the two stories as they paralleled each other. I developed a new appreciation for the scenes and noticed subtle details I missed the first time that enriched the account in book 2
One added element the resonated with me was the fact that although the male protagonists in each book had an impediment, it did not define, limit or diminish them in any way. In fact it elevated and strengthened them and made them more than they otherwise would...Wonderful life lesson.
Shapiro’s voice is a marvel, a remarkably gifted narrator putting such raw emotion to the words of the characters that it brought them to life. I particularly loved the innocence he infused into the voices of the young characters. He is so good.
I rarely go back and revisit books but this is one that I will gladly do to reacquaint myself with these wonderful individuals of noble character.
The story really sticks with you. Now every time I come across a name that starts and either an A, B, D, E, J or L, I think of the clans of Saylok.

Fun speculative fiction
Revisado: 02-17-25
I liked the story. It held my interest throughout with great action sequences.
I enjoyed the historical tie-ins.
There were some loose ends that were left unaddressed which may be revisited in other adventures...
Richard Poe did a great job with the many characters and for the most part, I had no trouble differentiating one from another.
I may get the second installment of this series to see how the characters progress.
