I love this
Revisado: 02-12-21
I met Mahogany Browne many years ago through my work as a teacher. I was impressed and wanted her words on my bookshelf. I’m thrilled to hear this amazing now el and can’t wait to be back in a classroom where I can share it with young people! Excellent work!💜

But I could not put it down! It was predictable young adult fiction but it was also compelling and terrifying and satisfying. Reading during to CoronaVirus pandemic was a strange thing.

Depressing but informative
Revisado: 08-31-17
This was depressing and yet important to know. Our collective shame about our sexuality is the true root cause of the problem. The internet has only exacerbated it and made it more clear. I wish there were a what we can do about it section. The other day a student from my Hugh school class told me she first saw porn in kindergarten. This terrifies me as the parent of a little girl entering kindergarten this fall: I hope we can pull back from this downward spiral in time for her life not to be marred by it.

Historia
Emma wakes in a hospital, with no memory of what came before. Her husband, Declan, a powerful, seductive man, provides her with new memories, but her dreams contradict his stories, showing her a past life she can't believe possible: memories of war, of a camp where girls are trained to be wives, of love for another man. Something inside her tells her not to speak of this, but she does not know why. She only knows she is at war with herself. Suppressing those dreams during daylight hours, Emma lets Declan mold her into a happily married woman and begins to fall in love with him.

Romance novel with a dystopian heroine
Revisado: 03-26-16
It reads like a romance novel, with great sci fi twists. The only thing that made me almost five up on it was the annoying voice of the main character. She spoke without contractions and it sounded stiff and strange. "I can not" or "I do not" was constant and annoying
