Obviously one of a series

Audio Play with sound level problems

The actresses in the background were consistently drowned out by voices and sound effects in the foreground. I had to turn up the volume to the point where foreground sounds would hurt my ears, to try to hear background conversations. Otherwise, it was good.

A great listen in one book

It seems modern author have lost the ability to tell a great story in one volume. This book is the exception. While it does leave the door open for future sequels, this book tells a complete story that most will enjoy!

Cliff Hanger Alert!!!!!!

Let me start by saying that this is a fairly well written and thought out book. Its sole problem is that the author or editor seems to have forgotten that books should have a beginning, a story line, and a conclusion. Unfortunately, after listening to this book for over 27 hours, the author or editor chose to conclude the book with a cliff hanger. I have not doubt the intention is to force readers and listeners to purchase the next book in the series. To me this is a big turn off for any author. My recommendation to perspective listeners is that you should not purchase this book until the next in the series comes out. Even then, you should only purchase this book if the author and editor figures out how to write a proper conclusion. A good author could have done so quite easily with this story line.

Great Book... bad narration

I have always believed that a well written book is the most important factor in making a good audible book. I did not think a narrator could spoil a good story. This book proves me wrong. I did enjoy the plot, but the narrator made it very difficult to get through the entire book. The fact that this book is a "no go" is a reflection of the narrator... not the author. I have enjoyed several other Coont's stories.

A Whole lot of going nowhere

All I can say is... that's 24 hours that I'll never get back. The book seems like it could get interesting at any time, but never actually does. The big climax never comes. This book is one of a series and I imagine that something really interesting happened in the books before this one, and could happen in the books after this one, but this book is a waste of time.

Sharpe's Eagle- Great Listening Experience

I purchased this book as a first attempt at historical fiction. I found it difficult to find a good place to stop listening. I enjoy historical fiction and this one contains enough historical detail to keep it interesting just from that point of view. In addition, it has a very compelling plot and enough interesting characters to keep the listener engaged through out the telling of this story. I would recommend listening to this series in order if possible. The first available is Sharpe's Rifles. Start there and see what you think.
