Historia
After getting canned from the Seattle PD, brilliant, wisecracking Thomas Prescott follows his sister Lacy to Philadelphia, where she swims on the Drexel University team. While Thomas’s slapstick antics mask a keen analytic mind, it’s his nose for trouble that leads him again and again into dicey situations. The ex–homicide detective is not long in Philly before getting caught up in two high-powered criminal cases. Thomas stumbles into a crime scene amid the Occupy Philadelphia protests. Activist Brooke Wexley has been strangled within sight of city hall.

Funny, fast-paced, and well performed
Revisado: 04-03-23
Nick Pirog and his protagonist, Thomas Prescott, do not disappoint their fans.
Nick's humor and lack of respect for authority are a constant as he weaves through a complex case tracking a serial killer around Philadelphia.
Thomas Prescott breaks the rules and pulls no punches while he uncovers and exposes psychopaths and corrupt business people. He picks fights with his colleagues and mobsters who are less forgiving.
What brings me back to Nick Pirog's books is the forever human aspects Thomas brings to the party.
He adopts a narcoleptic puppy, breaks up with a vengeful woman who is an elite hacker ready to use her skills to embarrass and punish and comforts a sister diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
A Nick Pirog audiobook narrated by Johnny Heller is an excellent investment.

All through the town of Pine Deep, people are having their most precious memories stolen. The monster seems to target the lonely, the disenfranchised, the people who need memories to anchor them to this world. Something is out there. Something cruel and evil is feeding on the memories, erasing them from the hearts and minds of people like Patty and Monk and others.

One of Jonathan Maberry's best
Revisado: 05-03-21
Ink might be Jonathan Maberry's Master Piece.
The believable characters, the introduction of a new kind of monster capable of incredible evil and social disruption, and images inked with eloquent descriptions set this story apart.

Historia
Two years ago, Dr. Gina Brady broke Thomas Prescott’s heart, but now her panic-stricken satellite phone call starts it beating again with a fury. Thugs kidnapped the good doctor from the remote jungle village where she was working, and now the retired homicide detective’s expert skills are desperately needed to save her. Led by a colorful, but perhaps untrustworthy local guide, Prescott journeys deep into the Bolivian Amazon, plunging into a world where the only thing more dangerous than the gun-toting drug traffickers and the ruthless tribesmen, is the jungle itself.

Lots of good fun.
Revisado: 05-03-21
The Thomas Prescott Series continues to entertain.
Nick Pirog’s Jungle Up is a fast-paced, laugh-out-loud funny ride through the Jungle with enticing plot lines and engaging characters.
It is reminiscent of the best of early Carl Hiaasen and Clive Cussler novels.
The story is laced with action as the ever-capable, and often heartbroken Thomas Prescott deals with drug traffickers, hostile tribes, dengue fever, corrupt officials, and a professional but scrupulous guide.
Throw in a dangerous and hostile jungle environment, an indictment of the pharmaceutical industry, an unexpected romance, a dialog that can make you laugh until you cry, and you have a winner of an adventure novel.
Johnny Heller’s narration brings the story and characters to life. Bravo.

Another must read from John Hart
Revisado: 02-08-21
The Unwilling is a rich and enjoyable thriller with a powerful story, including complicated protagonists and villains with equally perplexing characteristics. We are taken to Charlotte, North Carolina, during the early 70s, where a family is torn apart by the Vietnam War. The details will induce nostalgia while the reflection on a divided nation resonates with modern times. The story develops around dark images and real social issues, but the protagonist's brave yet innocent actions counter and balance the novel's weight.
Kevin Stillwell's narration is brilliant while skillfully delivering multiple dimensions of John Hart's work and allowing characters to come to life.

A must read for lovers of Thrillers and Japan
Revisado: 09-09-20
Michael Pronko infuses Japanese culture into his thriller novels with subtle care to create exciting settings and unique characters.
The Moving Blade is well written, and the story’s pace keeps you turning pages as action ebbs and flows while the mystery works its way through the shanty bars of Shinjuku to the elite offices of the Diet and even Yokosuka Naval Base.
A casual admirer of Japan or a lifelong expatriate will love the book and enjoy the Audible production.

Fast moving, well written, honest, and frightening
Revisado: 05-28-20
For whatever reason, one of the effects of the COVID-19 restrictions has been increased personal reflection with the focus on mistakes we've made in the past. Who hasn't made a bad decision or selected the wrong path?
David P Perlmutter will show you how some decisions have far worse ramifications than others.
Few have written as clearly and truthfully about the horrifying results of youthful mistakes as David P Perlmutter. His recollection of two specific and life-changing experiences will have readers on the edge of their seats for most of the book.
David is no hero and he doesn't disguise his weaknesses or make excuses. He lets the voices of colleagues, family, friends, and even the British and Spanish Police describe him and his actions with sharp and candid dialog.
David's account of his downhill slide leading to an arrest in Spain and his escape home to freedom make for real and serious drama. It's difficult to look into the mirror through his eyes and not wince or turn away in disgust, but you'll want to join the author for the ride and finish the awful journey with him.
Brian J Gill's performance is sensational. He brings the pages to life and transitions from one character to another effortlessly. He delivers David's voice with raw emotion and performs accents and alternates to female dialog without distracting the listener.
I'm glad to have discovered David's novel and would recommend it to any lover of the thriller genre.

Revisado: 10-22-19
Michael Pronko’s exciting story involving murder, intrigue, excellent detective work, and fascinating characters won't disappoint. He captures the essence of Tokyo with subtle dialogue and careful descriptions. Pronko offers an accurate picture of Roppongi's nightlife, the mizu shobai industry, interaction between Japanese colleagues, and social customs developed and practiced before the birth of Christ. Lovers of well-written thrillers and Tokyo should add this to their "must-read" list.

Revisado: 10-02-19
Ray Porter nails the narration for the Still of Night. I love Jonathan Maberry's characters well-developed characters and action scenes. Lovers of the best "zombie" movies and television series will appreciate the Still of Night. Maberry adds science to the horror of an apocalyptic scenario. His characters fight not only to save the world for humanity but to maintain the concepts held dear to a civilized world.
