I thoroughly enjoyed it. Similar to Terminal List but without the politics. 100% recommend this!

Woah.
Revisado: 03-03-24
I did not expect that! This series gets serious fast—serious in a good way—as these kids start to deal with some intense trials. As is the case in any series, the first book has a lot of character introductions and world building to accomplish. Now that we’re into the second book, Clark wastes no time turning up the dial on the action and this story really moves. Great pacing throughout—had me engaged the entire listen. Can’t wait for this series to continue.

Eye opening and couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 02-17-22
Although this book was a bit like “taking my medicine,” in regards to the heaviness of abuse, I feel the message is of keen importance to educate ourselves, and as a community. If you’ve been abused, it’s essential to know you’re not alone. If you haven’t been abused, it’s essential to know that there are those walking amongst us that are bearing this impossible weight. Darrell was masterful at his craft and was able to command laugher and tears in the same sentence. My heart is bursting for him, and I’m going to be telling all my friends and family about this book because it’s one of the rare ones that touches and stays with you. I was able to glean so much from his stories and advice. Much love, D!

Rampant infidelity but otherwise excellent writing
Revisado: 02-12-19
The book was interesting, and the writing is superb. It was hard for me to love this book, though, because of all the infidelity. It's just not my world to think of cheating as a casual thing. If that doesn't bother you, then the book is well written and the story is compelling.

Historia
In 1918, after four harrowing years on the Western Front, Tom Sherbourne returns to Australia to take a job as the lighthouse keeper on remote Janus Rock. To this isolated island, where the supply boat comes only four times a year and shore leaves are granted every other year at best, Tom brings a young, bold, and loving wife, Isabel. Three years later, after two miscarriages and one stillbirth, the grieving Isabel is tending the grave of her newly lost infant when she hears a baby’s cries on the wind. A boat has washed up on shore carrying a dead man and a living baby.

Slow at first, but overall it was excellent
Revisado: 06-19-14
What did you like best about this story?
No judgment is placed on any of the characters. You get to decide for yourself. Also, the imagery was incredible.
What does Noah Taylor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
At first I did not like Noah's speech idiosyncrasies, and found him to be boring. After about halfway through, I felt like he was the perfect person for this story. I liked his soothing tone and different impersonations.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, too much imagery to take in all at once.
Any additional comments?
Get through the first bit, and you won't regret it!

An entertaining illumination of the stupid beliefs that make us feel wise. You believe you are a rational, logical being who sees the world as it really is, but journalist David McRaney is here to tell you that you're as deluded as the rest of us. But that's OK - delusions keep us sane. You Are Not So Smart is a celebration of self-delusion. It's like a psychology class, with all the boring parts taken out, and with no homework. Based on the popular blog of the same name, You Are Not So Smart collects more than 46 of the lies we tell ourselves everyday.

Interesting
Revisado: 10-29-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, although I felt like he repeated himself a little. Some of it was already common knowledge and some of it was eye opening. Overall, pretty good. I did feel like the author is not a spiritual man at all. Although he doesn't come out and say it outright, some of his chapters poo-poo seeing things with a spiritual lens. For some reason, this bothered me as a Christian.

Historia
Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

A must read for all Americans
Revisado: 10-15-13
If you could sum up Lone Survivor in three words, what would they be?
Marvelous, Astounding, Flabbergasted
What about Kevin Collins’s performance did you like?
I loved the part when his voiced cracked while fake screaming during the SEAL training.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I bawled the whole time it talked about his friends dying. Unbelievable! How they continued to fight with all their gunshot wounds is a mystery to all but God.
Any additional comments?
Loved it, but I wish that no one ever had to go through what these guys went through.
