Historia
Thousands of books have examined the effects of parents on their children. But almost none have thought to ask: What are the effects of children on their parents? In All Joy and No Fun, award-winning journalist Jennifer Senior tries to tackle this question, isolating and analyzing the many ways in which children reshape their parents' lives, whether it's their marriages, their jobs, their habits, their hobbies, their friendships, or their internal senses of self. She argues that changes in the last half century have radically altered the roles of today's mothers and fathers, making their mandates at once more complex and far less clear.

Enchantment, as defined by bestselling business guru Guy Kawasaki, is not about manipulating people. It transforms situations and relationships. It converts hostility into civility and civility into affinity. It changes the skeptics and cynics into the believers and the undecided into the loyal. Enchantment can happen during a retail transaction, a high-level corporate negotiation, or a Facebook update.

Creativity, Inc. is a manual for anyone who strives for originality and the first-ever all-access trip into the nerve center of Pixar Animation - into the meetings, postmortems, and “Braintrust” sessions where some of the most successful films in history are made. It is, at heart, a book about creativity - but it is also, as Pixar cofounder and president Ed Catmull writes, “an expression of the ideas that I believe make the best in us possible”.

A horror story of human proportions
Revisado: 06-26-14
What made the experience of listening to Flash Boys the most enjoyable?
Fast, paced narrative that got into the weeds on some pretty heady topics in a way that was approachable and understandable for non-market types.
If you could give Flash Boys a new subtitle, what would it be?

Historia
A mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video-game industry. In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video-game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. But all that would change with the arrival of Tom Kalinske, a former Mattel executive who knew nothing about video games and everything about fighting uphill battles.

Historia
Explore the power of the underdog in Malcolm Gladwell's dazzling examination of success, motivation, and the role of adversity in shaping our lives, from the best-selling author of The Bomber Mafia. Three thousand years ago on a battlefield in ancient Palestine, a shepherd boy felled a mighty warrior with nothing more than a stone and a sling, and ever since then the names of David and Goliath have stood for battles between underdogs and giants. David's victory was improbable and miraculous. He shouldn't have won. Or should he have?

Over-simplification mixed with hyperbole
Revisado: 03-07-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes - central tenets of the books were really interesting and Gladwell is a great storyteller.
Would you recommend David and Goliath to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes - with reservations.
Have you listened to any of Malcolm Gladwell’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Nope.
Do you think David and Goliath needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Nope - not much more to the argument.
Any additional comments?
As with his other books, Gladwell grossly over-generalizes to get his point across and he usually doesn't need to. His points are throughout-provoking in and of themselves.

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

Most disturbing book ever
Revisado: 03-07-14
Would you try another book from Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga and/or Fred Berman?
I read the first two books and really enjoyed them - this one took an extremely dark and disgusting turn.
Would you ever listen to anything by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga again?
Probably not
Would you be willing to try another one of Fred Berman’s performances?
Yes
Any additional comments?
I got physically ill during some of the scenes and literally broke out in a cold sweat and almost passed out. I have a strong stomach and normally like books like this - I really enjoyed the first two. I don't know if it was the authors intent to elicit such a reaction. I can't help but think it was - it was highly unnecessary as it was a good plot that didn't need the over-the-top gruesome nature.
