Lovely and memorable
Revisado: 06-01-13
Would you listen to Redeeming Love again? Why?
Yes. I read the book years ago and count it as one of my favorites. Francine Rivers touches on some tragic topics and reveals so many elements of the human condition. It's a story with so much depth that you will remember it long after its end. I know the characters have been well-developed when they make me want to scream at them or cry over their sorrows. Rivers has accomplished that without doubt.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, because when I find a really compelling book, I like to savor it. But, it was that good that I did listen to it hours at a time.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Confusing and slow
Revisado: 06-01-13
What did you like best about The Way of Kings? What did you like least?
The narrators do a great job. I've listened to the team before. The man's voice is so low that it grates on the nerves at times, but they're very good.
What could Brandon Sanderson have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Introduce fewer characters at a time, in order to develop their characters well. He switches from one character/situation to another, continuing to add new names. I just don't care about them yet, and it's very, very confusing. I've listened to about 10 hours and can't remember who many of them are, especially if I leave the story for a few days. I'll try to slug away at it, because I've read other books from Sanderson, but it will require rewinding a few times.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ?
Yes, I've listened to Jim Butcher's series that they narrate.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Doubtful. I'll have to see if I can get through the rest of it first.
Any additional comments?
It came with high customer recommendations, so I tried it. I'm really not satisfied at this time, even though I know it must improve eventually.

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Exciting and intriguing
Revisado: 12-30-11
I enjoyed this story overall because it had action, psychological and ethical dilemmas, and pretty good character development. I didn't love the narrator. She sounded like she was sleepy sometimes, but she wasn't bad or annoying. The ending threw me. I'm not sure if it was meant to have a sequel or if it just ended abruptly.

Tedious start
Revisado: 12-30-11
Would you try another book from Jim Butcher and/or Kate Reading?
Having listened to the previous 4 in the series, I am determined to slug my way through this one, but it's so boring so far. I've listened to a fourth of the story. What's up? Jim Butcher is usually an easy read, but this one is so bogged down with war stratagems and other minutia that I don't know if I can make it through the series. I'm very disappointed. Book 3 picked up, but it also started slowly. This one is really slow though.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Regardless of whether a book is a stand alone or a sequel, it still needs some action. So far, there is nothing happening but lots and lots and lots of talking about nothing.
What about Kate Reading’s performance did you like?
She's very good consistently. I only have trouble with her when she yells like a man. It's kind of disturbing.
Do you think Princeps' Fury needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
If the story isn't finished, then yes. I haven't finished it so don't know how it ends. I dislike not finishing a series but won't get the next one if this one continues to go so slowly.

I couldn't stand the narrator, and it was so distracting that any interest in the book vanished. Read it instead of listening to it, and save yourself the irritation.

Sappy
Revisado: 08-30-10
The storyline could have been redeemed, but the author created one of those women who never ask the right question or give the right information when it's needed. There were also lots of missing bits in the story, so sometimes I wasn't sure what had happened. It's sappy and too sweet, although there were some interesting parts in it. Too bad.

Intriguing
Revisado: 08-30-10
I love Davina Porter's narration so finished the first book and thought it was pretty good. Having just completed book 2, I enjoyed it even more since I'm already involved with the characters. This version of the Arthurian legend introduces some novel ideas about Guinevere and Lancelot, and even Morgane herself. I enjoyed it very much and will continue the series.

At Princeton University, a famed geneticist dies inside a biohazard lab. In Rome, a Vatican archaeologist is found dead in St. Peter's Basilica. In Africa, a U.S. senator's son is slain outside a Red Cross camp. The bizarre murders thrust Commander Gray Pierce and Sigma Force into a race against time to solve a riddle going back centuries.

Snoozeville
Revisado: 09-15-09
I have read all of the James Rollins books available at Audible and through the library. This one, regrettably, is a real snoozer. I have tried for months to get through the first half and just can't get interested. I will plug on, only because I have enjoyed his previous books, but don't waste your money if you are reading this review.

Narrator distracting
Revisado: 08-07-08
I read these books year ago and thought they were great. Listening to them, I found the narrator to add little to the story, even frequently distracting me, with little variation in her voice characterizations. The story is unique and worth listening to, but I didn't find it as gripping as the book and can't recommend the narrator. I'm glad to have refreshed my memory about the story line but won't listen to it again.

Cute, but...
Revisado: 03-19-06
I actually liked the premise of this book, and found it to have a sweet quality. However, it's always disturbing to be surprised by crass vocabulary when the rest of the story doesn't contain any. This element was so out of sync with the other parts that it left me with bad taste. It's unfortunate too, because I actually liked the Spaceman character a lot and the ending was predictable but had a twist.
