Jenifer Lewis keeps it real in this provocative and touching memoir by a Midwestern girl with a dream whose journey from poverty to Hollywood will move, shock, and inspire listeners. Told in the audacious voice her fans adore, Jenifer describes a road to fame made treacherous by dysfunction and undiagnosed mental illness, including a sex addiction. Yet, supported by loving friends and strengthened by "inner soldiers", Jenifer never stopped entertaining and creating.

Would you listen to The Fall of the Governor again? Why?
Yes, in a couple of years like I do most audiobooks.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fall of the Governor?
....Not finished
Any additional comments?
I'm about half way but its so hard to not picture the Gov as Merle from the AMC series. The actor's voice sounds so much like him, especially since I've seen the series version of the Gov.

Nice Listen, but over the top at times.
Revisado: 07-07-13
What did you love best about Home Again?
I like the flashes to the past and back the future. I do wish the narrator (or whomever edited the book) would take pauses, a couple of seconds would make a world of difference when switching between tenses.
Would you recommend Home Again to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes. Great listen for a short road trip, sex scenes are graphic and very detailed, just be sure you are listening with someone special or alone, lol.
Have you listened to any of Jeff Gelder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not as of yet but I have a few I haven't gotten around to yet.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Good Question. After listening to the book, the title is not that fitting to me but I really don't have a good one myself.
Any additional comments?
The characters were great but a bit overly dramatic with the lovey dovey. It reminded me of Seinfeld's The Soup Nazi" with the "smoopy" nonsense and one of the characters was very insecure and hot headed (speaking to the nurses/doctors at the hospital that I almost started to dislike him. Outside of that, the story was nice, nothing I haven't heard before and kind of predictable, but it still didn't stop me from overall enjoying it.

Could have been just another Sookie novel.
Revisado: 05-14-13
Would you try another book from Charlaine Harris and/or Johanna Parker?
Yes of course!
What could Charlaine Harris have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
For a book to close out a popular character it was really weak. I expected a lot more drama/adventure/excitement but it seems she just sent everyone off nice and neat (I predicted a pairing up, yippee) but I didn't feel like I went on a journey after it ended, it was anti-climatic.
Which character – as performed by Johanna Parker – was your favorite?
Sookie of course.
Was Dead Ever After worth the listening time?
Sure, I still needed the ending if that's what you want to call it.
Any additional comments?
I read an interview in which Charlaine said around the end of year she release a final book detailing what happened to each character, I guess sort of like the ending of Six Feet Under where it gave you a snippet of how they lived out their lives and "died" so maybe it will be a little more detailed because a lot of the primary characters just didn't have a lot of face time, they were more like extras. All in all I still loved the series and would recommend it to others and I may eventually listen to them all again.

Historia
Three years ago, Bear McKenna’s mother took off for parts unknown with her new boyfriend, leaving Bear to raise his six-year-old brother Tyson, aka the Kid. Somehow they’ve muddled through, but since he’s totally devoted to the Kid, Bear isn’t actually doing much living. With a few exceptions, he’s retreated from the world, and he’s mostly okay with that - until Otter comes home. Otter is Bear’s best friend’s older brother, and as they’ve done for their whole lives, Bear and Otter crash and collide in ways neither expect.

Great Book and Great Listen!!
Revisado: 09-10-12
Would you listen to Bear, Otter, and the Kid again? Why?
I would in a few years.
What about Sean Crisden’s performance did you like?
I've enjoyed a number of his books even though his male characters sound alike, lol. I thought for a hot second I was listening to Fish & Chips, lol.
Who was the most memorable character of Bear, Otter, and the Kid and why?
The Kid of course! He was funny but almost "not real" or to grown up. I just can't imagine any kid saying the things he says or making the realizations. He seems to made Bear's character seem like a kid when it came to adult thinking. Bear was there to keep the bills paid, thats it, lol.
Any additional comments?
I'm still at a loss over the mother. I just knew she arranged for the ex-boyfriend to show up or maybe he was going to pay the mother some money to help him get Otter back but it seems she just showed up for a few hours and vanished. It was like she made an empty threat and didn't even show back up to sell wolf tickets. I thought i may have missed her second return. All in all though, I really enjoyed the book and would highly recommend it.
