Who’s Got Mail? is an intriguing and fact-filled look at how the mail has been delivered in the United States since before the Constitution was even signed. Full of eccentric characters, great stories, and technological achievements, this fun middle-grade narrative nonfiction from author Linda Barrett Osborne celebrates one of the oldest and strongest institutions, and is a true testament to the spirit of American democracy.

Very interesting facts
Revisado: 11-12-24
I listened to this book. The first half was very interesting to me. Did you know that babies were sent through the postal service because it was cheaper than a train ticket? The USPS still used mules to deliver mail in a remote location until 2022? Lots of interesting facts in this book. The second half was still interesting and important, but was not as interesting. The narrator did a good job.

Historia
Clementine is different from other mice: she can calculate the speed of light and she dreams in Latin. The scientists say she’s a genius and put her through test after test. Clementine is proud of being a good lab mouse, but she’s lonely. Her only snatches of friendship occur during her late-night visits with a chimpanzee named Rosie. When a compassionate lab technician frees Clementine, the mouse discovers an outside world full of wonders: brussels sprouts, games of speed chess, television fame, and a chance for a real home. But for Clementine, it’s not enough to be free.

Story of friendship
Revisado: 09-27-24
What a story about friendship and learning. Clementine tells this story with letters to her friend the chimpanzee Rosie. Clementine is freed and finds human friends that take care of her and Hamlet the other mouse from the lab. Clementine learns to play chess. she also gets to help tell the story of her being a lab mouse. This educational information leads to the lab being closed down. Rosie goes to a sanctuary and Clementine visits here there. The story is told via Clementine's letters to Rosie. I listened to this one on Audible, the narration was good.

Great book! Tells the story of how racism and poor police tactics can take 11 years away from an innocent man. I listened to this book on Audible. The narrators did a good job. This was my second time completing this book. It still sticks in my brain. I listened to this one and the audio was good.

I listened to this one. It's an enjoyable journey into what the afterlife looks like, including unicorns. However listening to what happens generates more questions for me, but I still very much enjoyed this book for the second time. The author narrates it and does a good job. I listened at 2x the speed and it was done before I knew it. It made cleaning my house so much more enjoyable.

I love FM books. This was no exception. The ending had me a little confused and I had to relisten to a section again to grasp it. But that's how FM books usually go. Your brain can't quite keep up with the twists. I listened to this on Audible. The narrator did well, I could easily listen at 2x the speed. She did well with the speech of Victoria.

Decent storyline, confusing ending
Revisado: 08-30-24
I listened to this one. It had a good story line that kept me interested. It was told from two POVs. It had me following along closely. The end was a chaotic mess that I had to listen to a second time to fully grasp what was going on. It was pretty far fetched. The narrators did a good job, some of the male voices, really didn't work for me and sounded so fake. Some of the characters were very hard to like.

Slow burn
Revisado: 08-25-24
You think you're getting a kidnapping story, but it takes forever for the actual kidnapping part to come into play. this is a slow burn. I'm glad I chose to listen to it, or I'd still be reading it. After the story progressed I did accurately guess at who the kidnapper was. Elle was not portrayed as an ordinary teenage girl with a boy friend, she actually thought about consequences and what might happen if her boyfriend was the killer, most teenage girls are going to run off to do what ever they want, and think they know it all, and all is perfect, so I found it unbelievable in that respect. The high school back story was very slow for me, I'm not big on romance books, and definitely not teen romances, I signed up for a thriller. To me there just wasn't enough thriller in it.

Revisado: 06-30-24
Holy WOW!!!! What a ride! I did a combo of reading and listening due to time constraints. I really enjoyed the audio version, it kept me in such good suspense. The story had the hairs on my arms standing up. Can you imagine being tamed? I sure can't. It was a great tale of kidnapping, survival and forging friendships in rough times. The narrators did an excellent job on this one. I'm already recommending this book to every Facebook post asking for a book to get them out of a reading rut. I'll be checking out this author's other books for sure.

Great except for the ending

I enjoyed listening to this one. It kept me intrigued and wanting to know more. The narrator did a great job. I listened at 2x the speed and was enjoyable. The only downfall I found was the very end, it left to many things up in the air. I still have lots of questions. It shouldn't prevent you from enjoying the suspense through the book though. I will try other books by this author.

Historia
The Bell Jar chronicles the crack-up of Esther Greenwood: brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful but slowly going under - maybe for the last time. Sylvia Plath masterfully draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with such intensity that Esther's insanity becomes completely real and even rational, as probable and accessible an experience as going to the movies. Such deep penetration into the dark and harrowing corners of the psyche is an extraordinary accomplishment and has made The Bell Jar a haunting American classic.

Pretty slow and whiney
Revisado: 05-07-24
Wanted to give a classic a try. I listened to this one on Audible. It was ok, not great. It seemed like a lot of pissing and moaning, and never really came to any conclusion at the end. They put music at the beginning of each chapter which was so horrible. It hurt my head every single time, and just when you think it's done and you can turn the volume back up.....guess what, you were wrong. I might classify it as a coming of age book. It sucks that back then we certainly didn't take mental health seriously and just blamed women for being crazy, glad to see we've made some progress. Narrator did a good job, other than for most of the book I thought Buddy was Betty, Then realization hit, and still several times I kept thinking they were talking about Betty again.
