Historia
It’s a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she’s actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn’t here for the big event. Phoebe is here because she’s dreamed of coming for years—she hoped to shuck oysters and take sunset sails with her husband, only now she’s here without him, at rock bottom, and determined to have one last decadent splurge on herself.

Historia
Jack Reacher has no place to go and all the time in the world to get there, so a remote railroad stop on the prairie with the curious name of Mother's Rest seems perfect for an aimless one-day stopover. He expects to find a lonely pioneer tombstone in a sea of nearly ripe wheat...but instead there is a woman waiting for a missing colleague, a cryptic note about 200 deaths, and a small town full of silent, watchful people.

I admit I was not able to get into the book due to the author's reading style. My experience is that authors should not narrate their own books. I have no idea whether the book was good or not, but I know I have enjoyed other books by Kingsolver.

Historia
Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

I imagine this book will register best with fans of Miranda. (See her TV comedy series, "Miranda"). I find her to be a riot, so loved this book, especially with Miranda reading. She does a clever thing with explaining her 38 year old self to her 18 year old self, and it has its moments. In any case, I don't think this is for everyone, but I certainly enjoyed it.

Historia
Margaret Trudeau, former wife of Pierre Trudeau, 15th Prime Minister of Canada, mother of Justin Trudeau, Canada's current Prime Minister, and international mental health advocate, brought her intimate staged performance, Certain Woman of an Age, to the Minetta Lane Theatre, where it was recorded live for Audible Theater. In this "fearless and vulnerable" (Chicago Tribune) one-woman show, Trudeau opens up - with refreshing candor - about her extraordinary life and her encounters with some of the most important icons of our time.

I gave her little thought after her divorce from Pierre, but she has truly had an unusual life in some ways, and a very normal one in others. I had no idea of her suffering, and I was glad to hear that she has triumphed over it. A most interesting listen.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

11-22-63 A Novel
Revisado: 11-15-14
Would you try another book from Stephen King and/or Craig Wasson?
Yes, some are quite entertaining.
Would you be willing to try another book from Stephen King? Why or why not?
I have read a few S. King books, and enjoyed, so may try again. I have also been quite disappointed by a couple of his books.
Would you be willing to try another one of Craig Wasson’s performances?
No, this is my complaint about this book. When he reads the narration, he is fine. When he goes into accents, he is horrible. I would accept this for just a line or two, but they go on for a couple of chapters, and it becomes intolerable. He seems to be doing imitations of movie stars of yesteryear.
Could you see 11-22-63 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
This might be a good movie, because much would have to be cut out. A great deal of this book seems like stretching---entirely unnecessary. A movie might solve that problem.

Why we think it’s a great listen: A masterpiece like none other, Brooks’ powerful performance of Haley’s words has been known to leave listeners in tears. It begins with a birth in an African village in 1750, and ends two centuries later at a funeral in Arkansas. And in that time span, an unforgettable cast of men, women, and children come to life, many of them based on the people from Alex Haley's own family tree.

I am three-quarters of the way through this book, and am having trouble "putting it down." Avery Brooks as the narrator has the effect of making this audiobook better than the paper book and better than the miniseries.
You probably know the story, but at the time it came out, it was unknown what effect this book would have on our world. There is a wonderful introduction that will inform you on the social impact it has had over the years.
I have been listening to audiobooks for many years now, and I have to say this is one of the best listens ever. I can't praise it enough.
