Historia
Susan and Norma have been best friends for years, at first thrust together by force of circumstance (a job at The Pin Cushion, a haberdashery shop in 1990s Leicestershire) and then by force of character (neither being particularly inclined to make friends with anyone else). But now, 30 years later, faced with a husband seeking immortality and Norma out of reach on a wave of professional glory, Susan begins to wonder whether she has made the right choices about life, love, work, and, most importantly, friendship.

So funny, a treat!
Revisado: 11-11-24
Nina Stibbe’s books literally make me snort with laughter. God she’s funny. This one is also a very satisfying and relatable story about giving too much time and energy to people who you eventually realize, often on the late side, weren’t worth the effort.

Historia
In June 2021, the whole world was listening as Britney Spears spoke in open court. The impact of sharing her voice—her truth—was undeniable, and it changed the course of her life and the lives of countless others. The Woman in Me reveals for the first time her incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.

A Must Read for Millennials
Revisado: 06-28-24
This story shook me. I was appalled at how the legal system failed this woman and she was abused by her whole family and so many other people along the way. I was a huge Britney fan as a kid but lost track of her in my 20s and 30s — it was horrible to hear what she went through and incredible that her fans were ultimately the reason she was able to get the help she really needed.

Historia
According to Confucius, “an educated woman is a worthless woman,” but Tan Yunxian—born into an elite family, yet haunted by death, separations, and loneliness—is being raised by her grandparents to be of use. Her grandmother is one of only a handful of female doctors in China, and she teaches Yunxian the pillars of Chinese medicine, the Four Examinations—looking, listening, touching, and asking—something a man can never do with a female patient.

Fascinating Historical Fiction!
Revisado: 06-10-24
Story was really interesting - I couldn’t wait to see how the main characters story would unfold and simultaneously felt like I was learning so much about this period of Chinese history. The narrator was excellent, and had a very soothing voice, I couldn’t wait to listen!

Historia
Kentucky, 1850. An enslaved groom named Jarret and a bay foal forge a bond of understanding that will carry the horse to record-setting victories across the South. When the nation erupts in civil war, an itinerant young artist who has made his name on paintings of the racehorse takes up arms for the Union. On a perilous night, he reunites with the stallion and his groom, very far from the glamor of any racetrack.

Fascinating and creative historical fiction
Revisado: 04-24-24
The story was so interesting and equally moving. Firstly, I had no idea what a major role race horses and their trainers, owners, and grooms played in civil war era America and I had never heard of Lexington before. Secondly, the story of Jarret and his relationship with the horse was really compelling and a great set up to tell a story about racism then and now.

A delight
Revisado: 10-27-22
Absolutely loved! Firstly, I’d listen to Aoife McMahon read nutrition facts off a food label, she’s such a fantastic storyteller! The story itself was so much fun- It’s like Harry Potter for adults, but the queer and diverse adults they all became in spite of the fate JK Rowling wished for them! Couldn’t put it down.
