A Decent Vacation Read

Without a lot of thought, I happened to pluck two Minka Kent titles before vacation and Memory Watcher was a whole lot better than Stillwater Girls. It grabs you and keeps you interested until the end, however, like another reviewer, I found Autumn's ending a little abrupt, unexplained, and unrealistic. Some good plot twists though and you'll want to stay tuned to see how it turns out.

Overall, a sad account of a genetically engineered population meant to be used and disposed of by an undeserving human race. The characters were not boring, but we’re made intentionally mundane because they had pre-determined, unfulfilling futures. Even their well-meaning guardians at their charter school couldn’t provide meaningful lives for them.
Rosalyn Landor’s narration was great and made the story even more compelling.

This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams. Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time.

Thrilling book, original, thought provoking

Excellent novel, it kept me engrossed the entire time. Great storytelling. The narrator was excellent. We’ll worth reading.
