Historia
I, Amelia Quinn, am dating again. I must be out of practice though because I sat down at the wrong man’s table…and kissed him. And now I’m wrapped up in the middle of an FBI case… DREAM COME TRUE! Except the super sexy agent doesn’t want my help solving this case. I, Caleb Harris, am a stupid, stupid man. Nothing says rookie agent like kissing a civilian just to get rid of her.

Revisado: 12-26-24
This story had one of the most obnoxious main characters I've ever read, and she made it impossible to enjoy the book.

Cute romance, whiney narrator, no real traveling
Revisado: 08-30-20
The romance was cute, but I really, really wanted some armchair travel. Sadly, this story is not actually about traveling. She didn't leave until 2/3 through the story, and the Vaca locations are barely more than bullet points. Not the immersive vicarious traveling I was hoping for!!
The narrator had a whiney Valley Girl voice that made the main character sound vapid and annoying.

Historia
Guns of the Dawn is a pacey, gripping fantasy of war and magic from Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky. The first casualty of war is truth.... First, Denland's revolutionaries assassinated their king, launching a wave of bloodshed after generations of peace. Next they clashed with Lascanne, their royalist neighbour, pitching war machines against warlocks in a fiercely fought conflict.

Historia
From the day that old Nana Reja found a baby abandoned under a bridge, the life of a small Mexican town forever changed. Disfigured and covered in a blanket of bees, little Simonopio is for some locals the stuff of superstition, a child kissed by the devil. But he is welcomed by landowners Francisco and Beatriz Morales, who adopt him and care for him. As he grows up, Simonopio becomes a cause for wonder to the Morales family, because when the uncannily gifted child closes his eyes, he can see what no one else can - visions of all that’s yet to come, both beautiful and dangerous.

Beautiful and poignant

This was such a wonderful book. The writing is lyrical and haunting. The characters were vivid and complex. I loved every minute of this story.

Good story; poor narration
Revisado: 04-21-20
The story is fast-paced paced and interesting, but the narration was so bad. The narrator tried way too hard when saying any male characters' lines and it sounded farcical. I look forward to the next book, but I'll read it rather than listen to it.
