The narrator did a fine job of telling the story. She was interesting to listen to, had nice inflection, and had semi-distinct voices for each character. I do think her character work was more distinct in the first arc (books 1-5). The story, though, is the best of the first 6 books. (I haven't read past 7 yet). I found Moon to be a great POV character.

Great story and narration

Didn't know what to expect starting this book. The narrator, Michael Kitchen, was fantastic in his nuance and enunciation. The pace of the story kept things interesting without lingering too long on mundane details.

Most of the dragons voices from the same tribes all sounded rather same-y. But otherwise a good performance with great inflection to keep things interesting.

Shocking and revelational

Excellent performance of a work that was often difficult to listen to due to the context, but a must read for the enlightenment of the truths it reveals that in many ways are still applicable today.

Slow and Steady

Narrator was very good. Each main character consistent and easy to distinguish.

Story was good. Not too long winded on any descriptions of scenes, but vivid enough to easily picture what is going on, though a rudimentary knowledge of WW1 Era lifestyles will enhance the experience.

Pacing is slow but steady. Definitely not a book written for a fast paced audience. I enjoyed it, but it's not for everyone. But best part are the military scenes. The interactions between soldiers had me openly laughing at times, and I can say they are often very accurate in their tone. The love story, however, will not sit well with modern sentiments. It is deeply rooted in early 20th century standards of male/female role expectations.

One of the best SH stories

First things first, David Timson is the best Sherlock Holmes narrator. His voices for each character are clear and distinct and his pacing is perfect.

This is the first SH story I ever read and it was a joy revisiting it years later finding it just as engrossing as ever.

Great guidance for any man

This book is an essential follow up to Wild At Heart. Again smoothly and expertly read by the author, his earnest belief and conviction in the power of the content gives the narration an honest and authentic sound. The content is indeed very useful to any man today.

Good story, great narrator

I enjoyed this book much more because of the narrator. Unique voices for all characters that stayed consistent, and an easy, clear cadance that made it easy to keep up with and interesting to listen to.
