Revisado: 08-18-24
I initially read Donna tarts the secret history of 1992 in high school during my junior year and have forever fall in love with this storyline. An academic friend group plagued by life, their histories and intelligence. if we were villains is beautifully written the way, the author incorporated, Shakespeare and his quotes into their own personal dialogue and personalities will forever shock me, it’s so effortlessly done. Do not be shy do not feel this is a hard read. It is so intentionally written that nothing can be lost. i loved this. Must read.

Historia
It happened in stages. My father left. My twin sister died of an incurable autoimmune disease. My mother started breaking down. Then I was diagnosed with the very thing that took my other half from me. That was when I realized Mama’s eyes turned gold when she cried. So I moved in with my father and his new family - new wife, new son, new stepbrother. Kaiden Monroe made me feel normal. Hated. Cared for. Loathed. And...loved. Somewhere along the way, I’d found solace in the boy with brooding eyes. But everything happens in stages. And nothing good ever lasts.

this book is talked about for older young adults, but even though it’s heavy topics are traditionally not for younger children i think this book is made for tweens, i truly enjoyed it and listend to it in two days, though, it’s definitely a younger book- beautiful little love story of family’s healing as grief plagues them all

torn (spoilers)
Revisado: 07-15-23
i finished this book and truly did enjoy it, the comments surrounding its length are true… the story seems to simply continue going, but then you are blessed with a great ending and sound journey for lenny, though the hardships are real. If this book was written in the first person i think i could have given it 5 stars, i personally do not enjoy third person books especially with the topics such as these, because it makes certain characters like cora weak, when clearly there is so much more to her character, hence the negative comments surrounding her choices. But it was a worth the read and very good, i never knew i could want to visit alaska so bad after reading into the wild… great listen, 7/10

being teleported into new york city, into their lives, the empathy and joy felt with them is un matched. I love first person books, they are so effective and emotional. The references and clear experiences during a time so romanticized by youth is amazing to see a real experience and attitude. they are artists they are great i feel as though i know them and was a fly on the wall during their intwined life together

Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Donna Tartt is a genius
Revisado: 03-15-23
I read secret history and absolutely loved it, her writing is immersive and a dream. I picked up goldfinch next not knowing what to expect, trying not to compare the two as they are very different books. Though Tartt is the umbrella, so I was not disappointed, this book is amazing, the writing imagery, and complete attention to detail is uncanny. The HUGE life lesson at the end of this book made everything make sense. It is long, and a grueling story, pain, love, secrets, meaning, it is a great story through and through. I understand how it can ruffle some feathers and not be everyone’s cup of tea, but don’t loose the beauty in silly facts or choices our main character makes, the writing is MAGNIFICENT. Donna Tartt is so talented and truly takes my breath away with all of her works. I 100% recommend this book. Additionally the performance by David Pittu was wonderful, I both read and listened to this book, and he did an amazing job. I recommend having the book as well for stories such as these, it’s important to see the quotes at each chapter and read them yourself, see the orientation and length of letters or dialog. This book and Donna Tartt are a treat. (Please read secret history too)

Historia
The Bell Jar chronicles the crack-up of Esther Greenwood: brilliant, beautiful, enormously talented, and successful but slowly going under - maybe for the last time. Sylvia Plath masterfully draws the reader into Esther's breakdown with such intensity that Esther's insanity becomes completely real and even rational, as probable and accessible an experience as going to the movies. Such deep penetration into the dark and harrowing corners of the psyche is an extraordinary accomplishment and has made The Bell Jar a haunting American classic.

this book was so good, i love a good girl interrupted, girl in pieces, style book, but this is next level for those who love language. you know from the start that sylvia plath was a poet, this book is just beautifully written and sad. An 11/10 for me, so relatable and unhinged
