Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

Historia
G. Gordon Liddy's wit, wisdom, and no-holds-barred approach brought legions of devoted listeners to his daily radio program, and made his autobiography, Will, a monumental best seller. Now he brings the same inimitable style to When I Was a Kid, This Was a Free Country. Listeners will be alternately infuriated and amused - but always enthralled - as "The G-Man" reveals what has been wrought by liberal politicians, government bureaucrats, "enviro-radicals", "fulminating feminists", and many others.

Liddy has values mixed up in his head!
Revisado: 02-11-19
Liddy has such a confused mixed up in his head! I agree when he says the government oversteps its boundary. There are too many regulations.
He might have heard about Geneva convention, he just doesn't know what it is about. It is not only about treatment of POW, but also about targeting civilian population, and that precisely what allied forces did in firebombing of Dresden, Leipzig, Tokyo, and nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

When a small mind try to judge a great one!
Revisado: 12-06-16
When a small mind try to judge a great one, a simple unsophisticated person, instead of doing his job, trying to give his "one cent" input. It shows that some people shouldn't have an opinion.
Presidents don't have any privacy, they cannot just drive for an hour to visit their lovers. White House service should just provide whatever they need, no questions or judgement, as long as it is not criminal.
Burn forgets he is paid from taxpayers. His house, food, pension is provided by taxpayers.
Burn credibility is at question: he mentions a lot of people accessing White House, but mentions Chelsea Clinton just once. Was she never in the White House?
Since Burns wouldn't be able to write a long sentence, someone with political agenda helped him.

"This book is in part a detective story. After 9/11 I knew, if I needed further reinforcement, that we are living in a new world - the world of a global capitalist economy that is vastly more flexible, resilient, open, self-correcting, and fast-changing than it was even a quarter century earlier. It's a world that presents us with enormous new possibilities but also enormous new challenges. The Age of Turbulence is my attempt to understand the nature of this new world." (Alan Greenspan)

Is Capitalism really working?
Revisado: 08-14-12
Is Capitalism really working? Creative destruction?
The whole attractiveness of US society is at it's economic opportunities. That's what draws millions of immigrants each year. The opportunity to make money compare to their native countries, to create wealth for themselves and their families.
What some of them realize when it is too late, it is only the appearance of wealth for those who make into the middle and lower class of American society.
If you buy a house in the US, it doesn't belong to you, you have to pay 1 to 1.5% of its value to the government. If you get sick you have to sell it to pay your bills. If you loose your job and can't make payments on time, you will loose it.
It appears that you make money, but bills are overwhelming. If you raise your kids, their education will be substandard, they will be brainwashed to American ideology, and have trouble finding good job.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....
