Historia
So many of us struggle with prayer. Many books have been written on the subject and there’s a reason for that. Prayer comes hard to most of us in most seasons. And when we do pray, we often don't know what to say. What is it that my Father loves to hear about? What are the best things I could pray for my family, my church, and myself? This short book by renowned Bible teacher Alistair Begg combines warmth, clarity, humor, and practicality as he examines Paul’s prayers for his friends in the church in Ephesus.

Historia
As a social worker, jail chaplain, and justice advocate, Bethany Dearborn Hiser pushed herself to the brink of burnout - and then kept going. Stress, despair, and compassion fatigue overwhelmed her ability to function. She was called to serve the abused, addicted, and homeless people in her community. Yet she was emotionally and spiritually exhausted. Something needed to change. Searching for answers, Hiser learned that trauma affects everyone who is exposed to it - not only those experiencing firsthand violence, homelessness, and addiction, but also those who are trying to help.

Hit & Miss
Revisado: 01-16-22
This book contained some extremely helpful truths that I needed to hear in my struggle of overcoming PTSD as a believer in Christ, as well as developing an improved view of my own self-worth as a Child of God. I was less than impressed by the frequent tying in of the social justice motifs, as if they were somehow a way to justify that the author or book was culturally sensitive and written within the 21st century rules of political correctness. Throwing around terms like white guilt, white dominated cultures, and white privilege in a book that is claiming to be grounded in the equal love of all people by a Holy God was not appropriate in my opinion.
