Disappointed!

First many modern detective stories have a romance in there. This is a Romance with the vernier of a mystery. If you want that kind of thing then go for it.

The bigger problem was a huge gaffe in the end story. I’d have to disclose spoilers but I won’t go there. Complicated mystery but the central hub of it was inexplicable - and left that way. The killer did xxx when there was no reasonable way to do it.

Good Story But you see it coming

Maybe it's the narrative device that you see everything the heroine is missing - it gives you plenty of chances to sigh or mentally scream - you idiot! If so, it kept me hooked to the end!

Bringing the benefits of Agile to Operations

I'm a strong believer of the Agile method in software development. But when faced with managing a devops operational group I noticed the struggle of forcing agile into the operational model of continuous small changes to the system and operations. This book helped me transform the agile Sprint methodology into a high-performing Kanban team. It has already helped a lot, and I plan to really listen to it again to incrementally improve what I've already started.Oone of the most useful books I've listened to this year.

Good solid Brisket info

I consider myself a medium advanced Texas BBQer. I've done it for years and have studied it a lot.

This isn't a long book but that's just as well. It doesn't contain a lot of fluff stories. While I don't usually opt to getting short audio books, this one was exactly what I was looking for.

He doesn't get all 'BBQ religious' telling you the only way to do it is: big offset, inject, salt and pepper only, foil wrap, hot and fast, and cook fat side up. But that might be a summary of his techniques. That would also be unfair because he adds insight on all these issues and even some twists that make a lot of sense.

While it would be helpful to someone getting started, the advice will click in more thoroughly if you have some smoking experience.

Great Performances with Twists and Turns

The telegraphed "you know what happens" before and after narrative belies a complicated psychology and surprise twists that keeps a little behind until the very end. Well worth while!

Nice 2nd - But Not Altered Carbon

I am really enjoying the Kovacs series. Altered Carbon is an all time classic sci-fi and I think it should be listened to first. It is more of a Jack Reacher - Blade Runner blend. This has military war background, albeit an anti-war perspective that saves it for me.

It has a dizzying number of characters but the reader does a fabulous job creating important characteristics. He has one that sounds like Steve Buscemi that is particularly amusing.
