Historia
It begins with a dead body at the far end of Baker Street tube station, all that remains of American exchange student James Gallagher - and the victim's wealthy, politically powerful family is understandably eager to get to the bottom of the gruesome murder. The trouble is, the bottom - if it exists at all - is deeper and more unnatural than anyone suspects...except, that is, for London constable and sorcerer's apprentice Peter Grant.

Historia
In The Buzz Kill by Kevin Hearne, Oberon the Irish wolfhound, and Starbuck the Boston Terrier sink their teeth into a new Meaty Mystery when they discover a body underneath a beehive in Tasmania. It’s been badly stung, but the bees aren’t at fault: This is homicide. The hounds recruit the help of their Druid, Atticus O’Sullivan, and the Tasmanian police to track down the killer in the interest of a reward - but this time, they want more than food, and justice.

2 and a spare
Revisado: 09-02-21
I picked this for Kevin Hearne’s story as I love the Iron Druid series and like the idea of expanding my literary exposure to other writers. From that perspective, I really enjoyed the first two stories but the third was such a radical shift in tone that it was hard for me to stomach. Very hard boiled. A good story for sure but so so dark and upsetting. I’m having to go find something else to listen to just so the rest of my day doesn’t have a dark cloud over it.

Historia
Oberon the Irish wolfhound is off to Portland to smell all the things with canine companions, and, of course, his human, ancient Druid Atticus O'Sullivan. The first complication is an unmistakable sign of sinister agendas afoot: a squirrel atop the train. But an even more ominous situation is in store when the trio plus Atticus stumble across a murder upon arrival at the station. They recognize Detective Gabriela Ibarra, who's there to investigate. But they also recognize the body - or rather that the body is a doppelganger for Atticus himself.

Being in the dog industry, it is fantastic to have a book written from one of my favorite fictional pooches’ perspective. It’s literally what I do for my dogs that come to my daycare all day long ;p

Complex and elegant plot
Revisado: 04-16-20
Incredibly immersive and detailed! I like the weaving back and forth through time. I grieved with Locke, rooted for him, celebrated his victories, and feared for him when defeat looked inevitable. A balanced narrative that lets the consequences of actions play out for good and ill. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. But forewarning to the faint of heart, the language and actions of the life and lies of Locke Lamora are not for those of delicate sensibilities ;)

A transporting, riveting mystery
Revisado: 12-04-19
The author does an excellent job of filling out a very alien New York from the one we know. The mystery unfolds slowly and you're right there with Justice as he gets to the bottom of it all. The story is true to the times which is heartbreaking and maddening at points but I appreciate the truthfulness of it. I'd be more specific but I think that might give the game away.

Only two of this series is available in the US. I would love to be able to listen to the whole series. Also only giving us one of the books that's half way through the series is a bit upsetting. At least get the first one first.

Not a huge Romance fan but not bad.
Revisado: 08-09-19
it felt a bit... short I guess. I felt there was more that could have happened in the interim to make the end more plausible to me. But again, not normally a romance person. Just giving the genre a try. Also the male actor needs to work on his Norwegian accent.

Historia
Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Any book that can make me laugh repeatedly is a good book for me. It honestly became a bit of a problem as I was listening in my very quiet office and unexpected bursts of laughter are a bit shocking for my coworkers. Entertaining, different, and a wonderful telling and narration. I am particularly fond of his dog and the old Irish woman.

Revisado: 08-21-18
I loved this book. The emotional ride is intense, you want to scream it the characters at time, comfort them in other, your heart breaks for them, and you desparately want them to succeed. I had to put it down a few times and walk away for a little bit just to be able to process then come back. Its worth it.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Riveting and Fascinating

I honestly didn't know where this story would end up which is fantastic. I love being surprised and getting to see the world (or moon I guess) through a sinners eyes is refreshing. She doesn't have to live the life she does, she choose it. And especially after that command performance by Rosareo Dawson, I assume she's a shoe in for the part when they make the movie.
