Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
When twin sisters Rose and Bel Enright enroll in The Odell School, a prestigious New Hampshire boarding school, it seems like the opportunity of a lifetime. But the sisters could not be more different. The school brings out a rivalry between them that few ever knew existed. And the school itself has a dark underbelly: of privileged kids running unchecked and uninhibited; of rituals and traditions that are more sinister than they seem; of wealth and entitlement that can lead only to disaster.

Sophomore book better than the first
Revisado: 05-03-19
Like her first book this starts slow with a lot of backstory. However once you get all the character development phases done you realize that it served a purpose. Every character mentioned matters and it all plays out. What starts as a high school prank contest spirals out of control as bullying and lifetime consequences play out from one event to the next. This mystery thriller had my heart racing into the conclusion of the novel. It is more than your average whodunnit.
Hate to leave references to other novels but had a lot of qualities of Girl on the Train.

When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that got her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government "rehabilitation camp." She might have survived the mysterious disease that killed most of America's children, but she and the others emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control. Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones.

Next Young Adult Hit?
Revisado: 08-06-18
This is a future dystopian world where you will see hints of Hunger Games because of the children being the subject of scrutiny and many are killed if they are declared orange or reds. It has a hint of X-men because of the fact that surviving children all have mutant like powers including the power of erasing memories much like professor X. A little bit of Maze Runner because the illness like the Flare has killed off much of the human population.
I have only listened to this one book so far but I am hopeful that the series can continue in a strong manner.

Finished in 3 Days
Revisado: 07-28-18
I was looking for a fantasy/ sci fi book to fill the void left in my life since finishing the 3rd book in the Ember in the Ashes series and I found this that I had purchased during a $4.95 sale.
This did not just fill that void it now has me hooked. I see that the sequel Thunder Head is out an that this is all part of a trilogy. I couldn’t get enough of this story.
Humanity has concurred death, religion has died because they have become immortal and now consider themselves gods. They can only die at the hands of a Scythe, an elect group of reaper like people who must make the difficult decisions to determine who lives and who must die to control the population.
Rowan and Citra are selected as apprentices after witnessing and helping the honorable Scythe Faraday complete the needed gleaning each in areas near them. For Citra her next door neighbor for Rowan a star quarterback at his local high school.
The 2 now must learn all the skills needed to be a Scythe whether they want to or not.
They learn the values of life and death and why both are important and the latter must be carried out by their hands.

Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted. To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale. Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan.

Exceptional Story and Narration
Revisado: 02-04-18
Perception may be reality in the person’s mind who is looking at someone from the outside but it doesn’t make it true. Much like the story of The Last Mrs. Parrish. The author uses an unreliable narrator named Amber to start the story. She meets Mrs Parrish and begins a friendship with her. Or does she. Amber has a dark secret and alterer motives for becoming Mrs. Parrish’s friend.
You hear all about Amber’s past her plans and what motivates her to carry on the way she does. Then during part two of the book we start from Daphne Parrish’s point of view all the way back to when she met her husband. As you start to see the story play out it is clear that nothing is at it seems to the people on the outside. The lifestyle of the rich Mr and Mrs Parrish is also full of dark secrets that no one but them know about.
Everything plays out perfectly from twist and turns all over the place. One thing is for certain everyone is hiding something and everyone has a motive known only by them.

When you listen to this audiobook, you will make many assumptions. You will assume you are listening to a story about a jealous ex-wife. You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement - a beautiful, younger woman who is about to marry the man they both love. You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle. Assume nothing. Twisted and deliciously chilling, The Wife Between Us exposes the secret complexities of an enviable marriage - and the dangerous truths we ignore in the name of love.

Great Story, Great Narration ,Nice Twist
Revisado: 01-22-18
If you are like me you love a good mystery novel with a great character development and sometimes an unreliable narrator telling the story. This book has all of that I have not been this satisfied with a novel and narrator since Gone Girl which ironically Julia Whelan narrated as well. I will not get into what the twist are. Just enjoy the story and if you can keep track of the names of each character that is mentioned. This audiobook is totally worth the credit it left me just wanting more and more of the story.

Good build up but......
Revisado: 11-27-17
Spoilers ahead.
So I thought the premise of the story was great. I loved the characters and the development of their character. But when it came to the end it all seemed so rushed. Mercer and Bruce really just get their fling (affair) started and then there is like zero time spent on her struggle once she knows the truth about the stolen F. Scott Fitzgerald manuscripts. She was paid to find them and all the personal feelings for Bruce Cable and his bookstore go out the window so she can collect her full $100,000. Her only concern seems to be not wanting to have to testify against him if it should go to trial.
To me the ending could have had a little more build up and character struggle with feelings and completing the job. Even with all the flaws of the ending the short epilogue was fitting and clever but again I think it could have been longer as the two reconnected.

Great Sophomore Book from Shari Lapena
Revisado: 09-09-17
I loved the premise of this book. A law abiding housewife has an out of character traffic accident. At the same time her husband comes home and finds her missing but her purse and cellphone are still there it looks like she left in a hurry or in a panic. The problem is the wife Karen now has amnesia and has no idea why she left the house and ended up in the terrible accident.
The story slowly starts to unravel with twist after twist right up to the thrilling conclusion. The character development is great as you learn that all parties involved have secrets.
I recommend this for fans of mystery/thrillers like Gone Girl, The Couple Next Door, I See You, I Let You Go, and The Girl On The Train.

Did not see that coming
Revisado: 08-31-17
Everyone is talking about the ending of Behind Her Eyes, and for good reason if you followed every single detail through the entire novel you may figure it out before it actually happens however I like most listeners only picked up on what the author wanted me to remember and was shocked with the way it ends.
I have seen some negative reviews about the ending but I remain neutral about it. One thing is for sure is that it is shocking.
The overall novel pulls you in and slowly gives you more and more to the story of Louisa, David and his wife Adele. You find the dark side of each character as multiple unreliable narrators tell the stories from their eyes.
Louisa meets a charming man in a bar and shares a moment and a kiss with him. It turns out that it is her new boss David who is also married. Louisa decided to leave it alone but can't shake her feelings that David made her feel during their time at the bar together and soon you learn that David feels the same and they continue to have feelings for each other.
Then Louisa meets Adele, David's wife and they become best of friends this only complicates things as David continues to pursue Louisa and their relationship gets physical. Louisa is torn with her feelings for David and her friendship with his wife Adele.

Historia
Reeling from a traumatic break-in, Emma wants a new place to live. But none of the apartments she sees are affordable or feel safe. Until One Folgate Street. The house is an architectural masterpiece: a minimalist design of pale stone, plate glass, and soaring ceilings. But there are rules. The enigmatic architect who designed the house retains full control: no books, no throw pillows, no photos or clutter or personal effects of any kind. The space is intended to transform its occupant—and it does.

Quit Comparing Everything to Girl On the Train/ Gone Girl
Revisado: 02-02-17
I don't understand all the hype associated with this novel. I hear a motion picture has already been optioned. Why?
2 women separated by a small amount of time both were residents of 1 Folgate street. It is a house like no other but one of innovation and possibly the future of homes across the world. But first they have to sign their lives over in order to get this amazing house at an affordable price. Regardless of concerns both "then" Emma and "now" Jane sign and allow their lives to be on full display.
You find out rather early what happened to "then" Emma. But as the story unraveled I can say honestly none of it was surprising. Even after the climax it ends with a dud.
A warning to any animal lovers like myself you will find certain sections of this book disturbing.
I am glad for the good listen guarantee as I will be taking advantage of this shortly after I have submitted this review.
