Mr. King MUST stop reading his own books.
Revisado: 03-23-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, but see title.
Would you be willing to try another one of Stephen King’s performances?
Yes, it is Stephen King's writing that is great. His lack of breath control, monotone voice and mouth noise just pulls me out of the story. Not something that's good when you need to stay in the fantasy zone to enjoy the narrative.

Couldn't get past Chapter 6 ...
Revisado: 10-24-14
What disappointed you about The Alexandria Connection?
I was willing to wait out the contrived exposition scenes and the overawed explanations of how big/fast/powerful every car/boat/explosive was, but I gave up when the awkward attempts at titillation began. It's like it was written by a 14-year-old, for other 14-year-olds.
What do you think your next listen will be?
What didn’t you like about Sean Mangan’s performance?
He's okay if I listen at 1.5 speed.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Annoyance.

What disappointed you about Woken Furies?
HE IS SAYING THE MAIN CHARACTER'S NAME WRONG!!! Holy cow ... It was a bone of contention in the first two books, how annoyed Kovacs got when ignorant people pronounced "Kovacs" wrong. How could the author / recording company let this happen!?

Applause for the old, fat, drunk heroine
Revisado: 04-09-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I don't expect to be spoon fed a plot, but Holy Mother of Did You Get Tired Of Writing, the "twist" at the end was ineffectual. As I reader I felt unsatisfied. Also, can't say much without spoiling, but a major Why in the book is not clear to me. Maybe I missed something, I will listen to that last half again. I already listened to the last chapters twice, just to make sure I heard what I thought I heard. Or... Didn't hear, actually.
Has Fog of Dead Souls turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I love the genre.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
First, kudos on the French accent and language. Beautiful. Second, not easy to listen to some of the time. Stiff and strained Not all the time though. Odd.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I kept thinking "I love it that this woman is old, fat, drunk and smart. Awesome! I also love the cops were smart and not bungling fools. Refreshing.

Zero tolerance for sexism? This is NOT for you.
Revisado: 04-07-14
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
As a sci-fi fan, the premise of the book was great, in fact, MOST of the book was great. There was a point where the sexism hit the tipping point and I revolted. I KNOW it was written in olden days when people were not as enlightened as you and I. That was then, this is now ... blah blah blah. I just have a deep-seated, zero-tolerance revulsion for those attitudes and actions.
If you go ahead and listen to this dated material, you'll know my tipping point, at a line from Mary that starts "I knew I loved you when you (blanked) me." OMG to infinity!!! When the female lead is written to need a good (blanking) before her real feelings can be realized? :::shudders :::If I could give the book an enema, to purge the sexism crap, I'd go as high as 4 stars for story.

Unsatisfying storyline
Revisado: 09-16-13
Was Pines worth the listening time?
Pines was not worth the time, the ending, although a twist, didn't satisfactorily justify the violent/crazy populace section, and the final choice of the protagonist did not make sense to me. That always grates against my sense of "balance" in a book.I would consider another book by Blake Crouch, but it would have to have five-star reviews, from hundreds, maybe thousands, of people.
Any additional comments?
Additional comments: To me, this was a book that had potential, but missed.

Luke Daniels, awesome performer.
Revisado: 08-28-13
Brilliance is a good story, made better by the reader. (Except for the female laugh, Mr. Daniels, work on that ... make it less nasal, more throaty.) The plot gusted a bit toward X-men, but nonetheless, I was able to get into the narrative in my head, and live it along with the characters.
