Historia
Scuff has come a long way from his time as a penniless orphan scraping together a living on the banks of the Thames. Now he's studying medicine at a free clinic run by Dr. Crowe. Lately Crowe has grown distracted after witnessing an altercation between a former patient of his named Ellie—a woman he not only treated but grew to love—and her controlling fiancé. It seems someone is forcing Ellie to marry the man, and as Crowe's emotions come flooding back, he sets out to uncover the troubling connection between Ellie, her father, and her betrothed.

Wonderful!

It was so good to visit the world of William Monk again. It was a good story. I always liked Crow and I'm glad he and Scuff/Will were the principal characters in the book. Also, happily, William Monk and the Thames river police made an appearance. I loved the ending. I hope Anne Perry writes another Christmas story in the world of William & Hester Monk.

Historia
Harry Exeter doesn't want the aid of the Thames River Police in tracking down the men who kidnapped his wife, Kate. He only asks them to help him navigate Jacob's Island, a creepy mass of decrepit buildings where he will hand off a large sum of money in exchange for her life. But when they arrive at the meeting place, Commander Monk and five of his best men are attacked from all sides, and Monk is left wondering who could have given away their plans. As Monk follows leads, it seems inevitable one of his own men has betrayed him.

Terrific!
Revisado: 12-17-22
If this book is the end of the William Monk series, it is a terrific way to wrap it up. Many times I felt like I was visiting old friends as characters appeared or were mentioned in the story. The story was so well developed, using events from the past to not just further the story, but to explain the murderer's cunning and almost diabolical plan. I loved this book. Thank you Anne Perry.

Historia
When Pentagon bioterror operative Roberto Diaz was sent to investigate a suspected biochemical attack, he found something far worse: a highly mutative organism capable of extinction-level destruction. He contained it and buried it in cold storage deep beneath a little-used military repository. Now, after decades of festering in a forgotten sub-basement, the specimen has found its way out and is on a lethal feeding frenzy. Only Diaz knows how to stop it.

Awful. Really bad.
Revisado: 09-05-22
It was just a waste of time I'll never get back. If I knew how to return a book to Audible, this would be the first one I'd try to return. I hated all the characters except Roberto....all the rest were either drunk, psycho or stupid. The story is either bad science fiction or really bad horror and ends up just being bad....really bad.

Disappointing, very disappointing
Revisado: 05-28-22
I wanted to keep increasing the speed in order to get through this one. These Cotton Malone books just keep getting worse. I didn't care for any of the new characters and in the end I wish more of them had been killed off. The entire premise was wasted on stupid characters. Complete waste of listening time.

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Revisado: 08-15-21
Overall a very entertaining story. I liked it almost as much as The Martian. Andy Weir makes science fun! My only quibble is the book was about 1/4 too long, yet the ending actually felt rushed. I loved Rocky, yes yes.

Great Series
Revisado: 11-14-20
I loved the Longmire television adaptation of some of this book series and decided to listen to the Audible books. Kindness Goes Unpunished is the third in the series and it is my favorite so far. I love Henry and Walt's camaraderie. I also enjoyed learning a little more about Vic's family. It was also a good story even though it played out in Philadelphia instead of Wyoming.

Historia
The blonde who walked into Cole’s office was the best looking woman he’d seen in weeks. The only thing that kept her from rating a perfect "10" was the briefcase on one arm and the uptight hotel magnate on the other. Bradley Warren had lost something very valuable - something that belonged to someone else: a rare thirteenth-century Japanese manuscript called the Hagakure. Just about all Cole knew about Japanese culture he’d learned from reading Shogun, but he knew a lot about crooks - and what he didn’t know his sociopathic sidekick, Joe Pike, did.

Revisado: 06-14-20
I love Elvis Cole & Joe Pike. This was the second book in the series and it seems a little dated now in 2020, since it was written in the late 1980's, but the story itself holds up well. Robert Crais is a good writer and I enjoyed the narrator.

Bloody, very bloody
Revisado: 05-31-20
I thought this was darker than the first Harry Dresden book. It was very bloody. I guess with all the incarnations of werewolves that was to be expected. I thought it was actually kind of depressing. I also wanted to slap the snot out of Karen Murphy a few times. As for the narrator, I love James....just not reading Harry Dresden. The whole time I kept picturing Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer & Angel television series. Not a pleasant listen for me.

Frustrating and problematic
Revisado: 05-11-20
I had problems with several things in this book. To begin with, I hated that a cop would use an unsuspecting woman as bait to catch a serial killer. I never quite understood how the RCMP would just ignore the fact that the man they arrested originally was illiterate, but the killer left literary notes on his victims. The one cop who believed they had the wrong man never once entertained the idea that the DNA evidence might have been attributed to a twin? Don't they have birth records in Canada? Didn't they thoroughly investigate Sebastian's background? I admired Olivia, but never quite understood how she would keep trying to rationalize all the clues being left for her and just ignoring the obvious. In the end she gets some real closure, so that was good.

Unsatisfactory ending
Revisado: 05-01-20
Where to start. The mystery itself played out pretty well, but the ending felt rushed and somehow incomplete. I didn't care for the narrator at all. Both Helen Clyde and Deborah St. James got on my nerves for most of the book. There was a particularly brutal rape that seemed to go on forever and the perpetrator is left unpunished. Just unsatisfied with the whole of the book.
