terrible narrator

The story would be pretty good but it is spoiled by the terrible narration. Good stories can be made great by a good narrator.

Boring! Boring! Boring!
Revisado: 11-13-23
Unless you want a crash course on psychics and on how they scam everyone, forget about this book. It is boring beyond believe. There is very little story. Someone gets murdered. Ok. But then begins the unending explanation about psychics , You forget that murder even took place. In addition, the narrator makes everyone in the murder squad speak in rushed breathless tones including Kim Stone. I have enjoyed other Angela Marsons books, the narration not withstanding. The stories were at least interesting. I have tried to plough through this one but I have given up. Don't waste a credit on this book.

Not up to the author's usual standard
Revisado: 04-24-23
I have read all the books in the Erika Foster series because I really enjoyed them. However, the seventh in the series is a complete disappointment. It starts out promising enough but then veers of into a confusing cast of characters. When the killer is finally revealed you're reaction is WHO? This is a very minor character that hardly appears at all. There is no backstory for the killer as in all the other books, Unfortunately the author seems to be a little tired of the series and decided that his faithful readers would not notice the lazy and convoluted story line. Mr. Bryndza owed us and Erika more than this book. He really should not have bothered.

Revisado: 10-21-22
The plot is slow and very laboured. DCI Lanctot is impossible to tolerate. Much time is given to Britain's immigration policies. Boring convoluted story that tries to interesting but ends up being boring. Listened up to the last 4 hours because I love this author but I had to give up. Maybe book four will win me back.

Wonderful story / Fabulous narrator
Revisado: 12-16-21
I wasn't sure about this book when I bought it but i love the narrator and thought I would give it a try. I am so glad I did.
The story is funny and sad. The two main characters are the complete opposite of each other but I loved both of them equally. Juliet Stevenson narration makes all the characters jump off the page. Do yourself a favor and give this wonderful book a listen!

Not the best.
Revisado: 07-04-21
Book 5 is good but not great. Parts of the story are really griping but others not so much. I like DCI Erika Foster but in this book she is less than the dynamic, problem solving police woman I have come to love.

Revisado: 01-04-21
The story was ok but the "bad guy" was totally out of left field. Convoluted and rather forced plotline that in the end was very unsatisfying and rather rushed to tie up dangling loose ends. First time reading this author and though the novel was not very enjoyable, I will try book two in the series in the hopes that Angela Marsons has improved.

Very poor listen
Revisado: 09-05-20
I really like the Dublin Murders' series and I am glad that I listened to others in the series before this one. Otherwise I might have not bothered. The story is weak, some of the narration is annoying and hard to listen to. So much so that I have skipped over some chapters. 50% of the book is OK. The other 50%is not worth my time. I like Tana French. I guess not every effort can be a hit!

The story is funny and at the same time suspenseful! The narrator is one of the best. There quite a few characters but you never lose sight of their individual stories.
Liane Moriarty is a fabulous writer. She brings everything to life. I highly recommend this newest book from a great author!
